🐾Gruffalo Hunt! 🌿

Today our Saplings and Oaks went on an exciting Gruffalo hunt! 🦊

The children had lots of fun exploring our garden and working together to find the different animals from the story. They showed fantastic teamwork, helping and encouraging each other along the way.

Using their pens, they carefully ticked off each animal they found on their checklist. ✅

At snack time, the children sat beautifully and listened so well as we enjoyed reading The Gruffalo together. 📕

What a lovely day of exploring, teamwork and storytelling! 🌳 🐭

Last week our children had the wonderful opportunity to head into our polytunnel and gather some of the vegetables we’ve been growing before bringing them back inside for a special cooking activity! 🌿🍅🥒

The children got involved in preparing the vegetables and herbs and helped to make a delicious homemade soup. They loved seeing the journey of their food — from growing, picking and preparing, all the way to tasting! 🌱➡️🥣

Cooking activities with children is such a fun way to encourage them to explore new foods, develop independence and learn about healthy eating. And what better way to get those veggies into little tummies than when they’ve grown and picked them themselves! 🥰🥕

We’re so proud of our little gardeners and chefs! 💚

🍪 Little Bakers at Work! 🍪

Our little ones had lots of fun getting creative making animal-shaped biscuits! 🧑‍🍳

There was plenty of scooping, mixing, rolling and pressing as they explored the dough and made their very own animal shapes.

A wonderful sensory activity full of messy fun, creativity and hands-on learning — and of course, lots of smiles along the way! 💓

Well done, little bakers! 👏🏽

This week at Nature's Nook, we have loved spending time outdoors and making the most of our garden. 🪴

🦕 The children enjoyed outdoor painting, with some bringing dinosaurs into their play and stamping their feet through the paint to create dinosaur footprints.

We explored the concept of heavy and light using natural resources from the garden. After picking a cucumber, the children used stones to compare which side was heavier, using lots of mathematical language such as heavier, lighter, balance, and measure throughout their investigation.

The children also created beautiful clay self-portraits using loose parts. This activity encouraged wonderful conversations about our eye colours, hair colours, and how we are all unique and special in our own way. 🥰

In the digging area, the children worked together to create a swamp. They showed fantastic teamwork as they dug a large hole and transported water across the garden to fill it, demonstrating cooperation, problem-solving, and determination. (There were lots of changes of clothes after this 🤣)

Our babies have been enjoying our new posting toy, which supports and develops the posting schema while encouraging fine motor skills and concentration. As always, water play has been a firm favourite, with lots of splashing, pouring, and exploring different containers.

Finally, we were excited to welcome some much-needed rain! Some of the babies sat on the decking with the practitioners, all snuggled under cosy blankets, listening carefully to the soothing sound of the rain as it fell from the roof and watching the raindrops splash below. It was a very wholesome, calming sensory experience that encouraged the children to slow down, observe their surroundings, and enjoy nature together. ☔️

This week at Natures Nook, we've been exploring the wonderful world of messy play!

We've loved seeing the children's growing interest as they've explored a variety of exciting messy play activities. This includes potion making, water play and splashing, shaving foam enhanced with Jenga blocks for creative tower building, and plenty of free painting.

To celebrate Norfolk Day this week, the children also enjoyed painting Norfolk flags. It was a lovely opportunity to introduce them to our local community while developing their fine motor skills.

Messy play provides endless opportunities for children to express themselves, use their imagination, develop their creativity, and spark meaningful conversations with their friends and practitioners.

What a fun-filled week of discovery and celebration! 💚

We’ve enjoyed lots of outdoor play this week.

👶 Our babies have been practising balancing and bubble catching! Supporting physical development, coordination, confidence and wellbeing. ☀️ 🍃

The toddlers and preschoolers have been matching the letters in their names to make name rockets, while our new role-play kitchen has been a huge hit! The children have loved sharing, taking turns and making yummy pretend food. 🍳

🐹 Finally, our guinea pigs are now big enough to enjoy some time in the garden! The children loved watching them munch on the grass for the first time and helped to make sure they had everything they needed, including water, snacks and hay.

What a wonderful week of learning through play! 🌿💚

☀️ It's the last day of term for many, and we'd like to wish everyone the most amazing summer! ☀️

We're lucky enough to have a little longer with our wonderful school leavers 🥳, and we're looking forward to making even more special memories together.

This week we've been learning all about friendship, sharing, and caring for others.

🌻We checked on our beautiful sunflowers and watched how much they've grown.

🐹We enjoyed lots of cuddles with our guinea pigs and made sure they were well cared for, including feeding them their favourite treat – cucumbers!

🎨We worked together to paint the big tyre, sharing ideas and encouraging each other's creativity.

🪵We also built an obstacle course together, helping our friends across the planks by holding hands and cheering each other on.

It's been another busy week full of kindness, teamwork, and lots of smiles.☀️🌈

❤️🤍 Come on England! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Today we've had a fantastic time celebrating England reaching the semi-finals!

The children have enjoyed a variety of sports, sensory, and creative activities throughout the day.

We painted England flags, explored red and white playdough, made and decorated delicious biscuits to look just like the England flag.

Outdoors, the children had lots of fun taking turns kicking footballs into the goal, cheering each other on, celebrating every goal, and showing wonderful teamwork and encouragement.

We've had an action-packed day full of creativity, excitement, and football fun. Now we're all ready to cheer on England this evening...

The wait is over! 🌱

Over the past few months, the children have been patiently caring for the seeds they planted, watering them, watching them grow, and learning all about how plants develop.
Now, we're so excited to be enjoying the rewards of all their hard work!

We've harvested our very own cucumbers to eat🥒 , our tomatoes are growing nicely (the children can't wait for them to turn red🍅 ), peppers are starting to appear on our pepper plants too. We’ve been seeing delicious raspberries growing too!

It's been a wonderful hands-on learning experience, teaching the children about patience, responsibility, and where our food comes from. We can't wait to see what else our garden has in store! 🌺

What a very hot and incredibly busy week we've had at Nature's Nook Day Nursery! ☀️ We've had lots of fun exploring, creating and learning together.

The children enjoyed making their own chalk paint by choosing their favourite coloured chalk, grating it into a bowl to make chalk dust, and adding water to create their paint. They loved using their homemade paint to make big, colourful marks on large sheets of paper in the garden, encouraging creativity and developing their gross motor skills.

We also practised our scissor skills by carefully cutting flowers and long grass. Along the way, we talked about the importance of using and carrying scissors safely, and the children did a fantastic job listening and following our safety rules.

Our preschool children, who are getting ready to spread their wings and head off to school this year 😢, have been working hard on their phonics flower activities, building their confidence and preparing for their exciting next adventure.

Behind the scenes, our team also came together for an out-of-hours staff meeting. We refreshed our safeguarding knowledge and were excited to introduce our very own Nature's Nook Curriculum, thoughtfully developed by Teigan and Zoe for both rooms across the setting.

To finish the week, we celebrated Teddy Bears' Picnic Day! 🧸 The children brought in their favourite teddy bears from home to share with their friends, decorated delicious biscuits, and enjoyed a lovely picnic-style snack together. It was a wonderful day filled with smiles, laughter and lots of special memories.

What a fantastic week it's been! We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and enjoys the sunshine. 💚😍
