This week has seen the return of Mini Police at Markeaton Primary School.

Mini Police is a great initiative where once a week SNT visit to the school, the students get their own uniform and will learn about a variety of areas in policing and will even get visits form our colleagues in the Dog Unit, CSI, and Armed Response.

The team have also been out and about speaking with local business's about the issues affecting them.

This afternoon, PCSO Charles and PC Hill teamed up with one of our neighbourhood officers from Derby City Council for a walk-about the Westend Estate.
They team spoke with some local residents about anti-social behaviour, and other issues within the area; they also encouraged residents to attend the residents meeting at Elm Park Court common room on Wednesday 30th September from 10:30, where Derby City Council, Metropolitan Housing and the Police will be in attendance should there be any concerns wanting to be raised.

Today PC Bull and PCSO Charles conducted a joint visit with a local housing provider to speak to residents about recent issues with Anti-Social Behaviour in the area.

The visit was helpful for the team to understand exactly what problems were taking place and the relevant times of the issues. We will then use this to target our patrols accordingly.

We have recently seen an increase in reports of vehicle interference and thefts from vehicles across the area. Whilst our enquiries are ongoing, we would like to offer some advice to residents about how to keep their vehicles and belongings safe.

- Ensure vehicle doors and windows are always locked and secure, even if it is only being left for a short period.
- Do not leave any valuables, such as wallets or handbags, on display in the vehicle.
- Park in a secure area if and when possible, even better if it is well lit and covered by CCTV.
- Ensure car keys are kept out of sight and away from windows and doors within your property.
- Consider security measures for your vehicle such as steering locks, tracking devices and alarms.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any information, CCTV footage, or have noticed anything suspicious in your local area.

The team have been out and about at the University of Derby today at their annual Freshers fair.

It was great to chat to both new and returning students, many who have just moved out for the first time, about keeping safe in the community and when enjoying nights out in the city!

Last week PCSOs Smith & Haworth hosted a crime prevention and tool marking event at Blenheim Parade.

It was great to chat to lots of local residents and discuss some issues in the area, along with offering plenty of crime prevention advice.

We also handed out a number of tool marking pens to local businesses and trades people which will hopefully keep their belongings safe and increase the chance of getting them returned should they ever be stolen.
