We are delighted to announce that Derby College has been shortlisted for two Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) Training Awards.

The FIS Training Awards celebrate excellence and achievement in plastering and interior trades, recognising the contribution of apprentices, students, colleges, training providers, and those supporting sector training.

Congratulations to Scott and our wider construction team on this fantastic recognition of their commitment to developing the next generation of skilled professionals.

The winners will be announced at the FIS Training Awards Lunch in London on the 24th of November.

🎨 New Opportunity: Apprentice Painter & Decorator

Looking to start a career in a skilled trade and learn from the ground up?

LA Decor, based in Ilkeston, is looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Painter & Decorator to join the team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a Level 2 Painter & Decorator apprenticeship.

🔨 What you’ll learn:
Preparing walls and other surfaces
Painting, varnishing and applying decorative finishes
Wallpapering
Mixing and matching colours
Using professional tools and equipment
Measuring materials and calculating quantities
Working safely and professionally on a range of projects
Working alongside other trades and communicating with clients

📍 Location: Ilkeston (DE7 8BN), with work across the East Midlands

You’ll work in a variety of settings - from homes and commercial buildings to construction sites and outdoor/scaffolded environments - so this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work.
