This afternoon A/Sgt Dolby, PCSO Supervisor Thurman & PCSO Smith held a pop up stall at Markeaton Park to do some bike marking.

We gave out plenty of freebies and got a handful of bikes marked up and protected from theft.

It was great to see plenty of people enjoying the weather and the paddling pool, and thank you for everyone who came to say hello!

A/Sgt Dolby & PCSO Smith will be at Mundy Play Centre Car Park on Wednesday 12th August from 13:00 - 14:00 offering free bike marking.

As the warm and dry weather continues, we would like to urge everyone to play their part in keeping our green spaces, nature and community safe from fires.

We were recently made aware of a deliberate fire that had been set in Allestree Park, which took over a fairly big area and took quite a while for our colleagues at the Fire Service to extinguish.

Can we please remind residents to speak to their young people about responsible behaviour when out and about, and the dangers of setting fires at any time of year, especially when the ground is so dry. We also must consider the dangers of burning waste material, and disposing of ci******es carefully.

The team will be out and about at a few events next week and we'd love for you to pop by and see us.

The first event will be a great one for families, we'll be attending the Superhero Picnic in the Park at Darley Park on Thursday. We'll be there with on of our vehicles and lots of uniform to try on.

On Friday PCSO's will be holding a community catch-up at The Greenery at 10:30, if you have any issues you wish to discuss then please feel free to come and speak to us.

PC Bull and PC Lakin were patrolling the Allestree area when they spotted a young child on this e-scooter on Blenheim Drive. When they tried to speak to him, he failed to stop, ignoring the blue lights and sirens and scooted away at over 40mph!

Some detective work later and the address of the child was discovered, where the 12 year old swiftly returned to after his Mum was informed what had happened.

The scooter has been seized and found to reach a top speed of 56mph. It will be crushed and destroyed.

| Yesterday officers from Allestree Safer Neighbourhood Team carried about the first operations as part of Operation Tollense, an initiative aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour involving stolen and off-road motorcycles, as well as e-scooters.

We were supported by our Force Drone Team, whose expertise helped us locate riders, identify bikes and uncover locations where offenders are hiding suspected stolen motorbikes.

As a result of the operation, 4 bikes/E-scooters were seized.

This is just the beginning. Further operations will be taking place over the coming months as we continue to target those responsible for anti-social behaviour and work to reduce the number of reports involving nuisance motorbikes across our communities.

🚔 OPERATION SAFEDRIVE - KEDLESTON ROAD, DERBY 🚔

Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood team have been on Kedleston Road today conducting a safe drive operation with the aim of improving road safety and tackling criminality on the roads.

During the operation, a number of vehicles were stopped and checked resulting in,

✅ One male arrested on suspicion of overstaying in the UK
✅ One male arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed drug limit
✅ One vehicle issued with a PG9 prohibition notice after being found in a dangerous condition
✅ Two vehicles seized for having no valid insurance.

One driver even tried to fool our eagle eyed officers with a fake driving licence, this one was of poor quality and an easy spot when handed to officers.

Keeping Our Neighbourhoods Safe
Over the past quarter, our neighbourhood teams across Allestree, Darley Abbey, Mackworth and New Zealand have remained focused on keeping our communities safe, listening to local concerns, and working closely with partners to address the issues that matter most to residents.

Proactive Policing Activity
Our approach continues to focus on problem-solving, visibility and partnership working. Officers and PCSOs have conducted regular high-visibility patrols, enforcement activity and engagement across identified hotspot areas. This has included targeted patrols in parks, residential streets and transport routes, as well as joint work with partner agencies to address ongoing issues linked to vulnerability and anti-social behaviour.

Stop and Search
Stop and search powers have been used lawfully and proportionately where officers have had grounds to suspect criminal activity. These powers have supported our work to tackle drug-related crime and protect communities. During the quarter, stop searches were carried out in areas including Greenwich Drive South, contributing to positive outcomes linked to drug misuse and associated criminality.

Tackling Local Concerns
• Developed intelligence into young people who are causing anti-social behaviour and are working with them to deter them from offending.
• We have undertaken a number of intelligence led Misuse of Drugs Act stop searches of individuals with many positive results, these investigations are currently on going.
• Enforced disruption visits to known address to prevent further drug use taking place.
• Conducted several pro-active stops of vehicles linked to drug dealing and searched these vehicles. Positive results have come from these with drugs being seized
• Proactive traffic enforcement including finding a driver under the influence of drugs
• Issued Traffic Offence Reports for unsafe tyres, lighting defects, no insurance and no MOT.
• Worked alongside the community and partners to develop an intelligence framework for the illegal use of motorbikes, identifying those involved and key locations where they are used and kept
• seized several illegal and stolen motorbikes.

Working With Our Communities
Listening to residents remains central to our work. We have attended community meetings in Allestree and Darley Abbey, engaged with youth groups, and used community feedback to shape patrol plans and priorities. Partnership working continues to be key, particularly when addressing vulnerability, anti-social behaviour and environmental concerns.

| Thief jailed for more than two years after targeting numerous homes and vehicles across Allestree

A thief has been jailed for more than two years after targeting numerous homes and vehicles over the course of a few days in Allestree.

David King pleaded guilty to 14 separate offences relating to a series of crimes committed in the Derby suburb between Tuesday 14 April and Wednesday 15 April.

He tried to break into numerous homes and vehicles, managing to steal money and a metal Yankee Candle air freshener.

King also committed fraud by dishonestly using someone else’s bank card to make a purchase at ASDA in Duffield Road on Tuesday 14 April.

He was arrested after officers reviewed CCTV footage of his crimes and identified him as a suspect.

The 35-year-old, of no fixed abode, was charged with:-

*Six counts of theft from a motor vehicle

*Four counts of attempted burglary

*Two counts of vehicle interference

*One count of attempted theft from a motor vehicle

*One count of fraud.

He admitted all charges during an appearance at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Friday 17 April.

King was jailed for two years and seven months during an appearance at Derby Crown Court on Monday 13 July.

Detective Sergeant Louise Munday, of the Neighbourhood Acquisitive Crime Team, said: “King targeted numerous homes all very close to each other and in a very short space of time causing distress and financial loss for the victims.

“We are pleased that he has been handed a sentence which reflects the callous and brazen nature of his crimes.”
