St Wystan's have been learning about Tourette’s Syndrome in assembly last week. We found out that people who suffer with Tourette's have no choice in the sound and movements they make, but we can choose how to respond. At SWS, we choose kindness, friendship and inclusion every day.

Form 1 had great fun making smoothies in their DT lessons. They enjoyed tasting a variety of fruits before deciding which combinations to use. The pupils then carefully chopped, blended, and created their own delicious smoothies. The best part was enjoying their finished drinks and discovering new favourite flavours! 🍓🍍🍉🍊

Jetting off around Europe ✈
Form 2 boarded an aeroplane in their classroom and took off on a whistle stop tour of Europe today! They tried food from different European countries, learnt facts about each country and identified the coloured flags. With their tickets and seatbelts on they have enjoyed their experience to begin their Europe geography topic 🌎

Thank you to the Year 8 Tech team from Derby Grammar School, who came to visit us before the half term.
The team shared their roles in the team, explaining how collaboration and teamwork are key to their success. They played a game of catch with our robot, and one lucky Reception pupil caught a competition ball launched by the robot. 🤖
It was also wonderful to see some our past pupils take part in the presentation too!

Welcome to a mysterious island where magic, mayhem, and monsters rule!✨
The pupils in our Prep forms put on a spectacular performance of The Tempest this term. The music, songs and characters came to live on the stage at the 400 Hall theatre. Well done to all the cast for the hard work and confidence whilst performing.
A truly collaborative effort, we would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff involved for pulling together so brilliantly to bring this show to life.

School Council are delighted to roll out a new, pupil–led version of St Wystan’s School rules. They were determined to create something, short, snappy and memorable. So, with a thumbs up from their friends and teachers, it’s out with the old and in with the new! Fabulous work School Council!

What a fabulous St Wystan’s Day service we had at our village church, celebrating our school and its incredible journey over the last 100 years. We loved entertaining the congregation with beautiful songs and sharing fun facts about the history of our school.
Happy 100th Anniversary, St Wystan’s!

This week, Reception have been busy bees working hard on the final touches to their community outreach project ‘Save Our Bees!’ 🐝
They have visited the Maple Tree Café to give seeds to customers, created bees from tin cans and have been out in front of the school sharing their message with the wider community. If you would like some seeds these can be found in the Maple Tree Café (whilst stocks last!) 🌷🌼🐝
