It’s really upsetting reading about the childminder in Scotland. Those children should have been safe in her care, and I can only imagine how their families must be feeling. 💔
When parents leave their children with us, they’re trusting us to look after them, comfort them and keep them safe. It’s a huge responsibility, and one I take very seriously.
I love being a childminder. Here at Chickadee, we get to know the children so well, the little things that make them laugh, when they need a cuddle and when they’re just not quite themselves. I know so many other childminders who care just as much about the children they look after.
It worries me that this story will make some parents question their own childcare. I understand that, and I’d always want a parent to feel they could ask me questions or talk through anything worrying them.
I also can’t get my head round how on earth this went on for so long, and what needs to happen to prevent it happening again.
My thoughts are with everyone affected, especially the children. They deserved so much better in their vulnerable little lives. 😢💜
