GCSE Results Day Success!

We're celebrating another fantastic set of GCSE and technical qualification results at UTC today.

✅ 100% pass rate in Engineering and Health & Life Sciences technical qualifications
✅ Engineering students achieved results nearly 20% above national averages
✅ 81% of Sports Science students achieved a Level 2 Merit+
✅ Many subjects exceeded nationally recognised targets by over 10% on average

A huge congratulations to all our students for their hard work and achievements. Whether progressing to our sixth form, an apprenticeship, or another Post 16 pathway, we wish you every success for the future!

Tomorrow (Thursday 20th August) is GCSE Results Day!

GCSE results can be collected from UTC from 8:30am

We would like to wish all of our students the very best of luck as they receive their results.

Details for students enrolling with us for Year 12:

- 8.30 – 9.30am – Internal UTC students
- 9.30am – 10.00am – Priority Pass students (please bring evidence of your Priority Pass)
- External students without Priority Pass are welcome from 10.00 am to bring their results in.

Outstanding Technical Results at UTC Derby!

Congratulations to all our Year 13 students who are celebrating a fantastic set of technical qualification results today. 👏

✅ 100% pass rate in both the Engineering Diploma and Health & Social Care Diploma
✅ 38% of students on the Engineering Extended Diploma achieved the highest grades available
✅ 100% of students taking the Engineering Extended Certificate achieved a Merit or above
✅ Strong performance on our T Level in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing, with results exceeding national benchmarks from 2025

These results reflect the hard work, commitment and ambition of our students, supported by the expertise of our staff and employer partners.

We are incredibly proud of all our students as they prepare for their next steps, including university, apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships.

Tomorrow (Thursday 13th August) is A Level Results day!

Level 3 Technical and A Level results can be collected by Post 16 students between 8:30am and 11am.

We would like to wish all of our students the very best of luck!

Staff will be available to provide support and guidance throughout the morning.

What a year it's been!

As we close the chapter on another academic year, we'd like to take a moment to thank our students, staff and partners for all they have contributed over the past year.

There have been so many highlights to celebrate, from achievements in the classroom and enrichment opportunities to competitions, visits, and memorable school events. Our students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and determination, making this a year to remember.

We are especially proud of those students who completed their examinations this summer. Their hard work, resilience and dedication throughout the year have been outstanding, and we wish them every success for the future.

This month, we have also enjoyed welcoming our new Year 9 students and giving them a glimpse into life at our school.

We hope you all have a wonderful, well-deserved summer break, and we look forward to seeing you in the new academic year!

What a fantastic celebration at Derby County's Pride Park Stadium last week!

We were delighted to celebrate the achievements of the UTC Derby Pride Park Girls Under 16 Football Team, who were crowned Derbyshire Under 16 Plate Winners.

This is an incredible accomplishment and reflects the hard work, dedication and teamwork shown by every player throughout the season. We are so proud of all of you, congratulations on a well-deserved success!

What a fantastic prom!

Last week, our Year 11 students celebrated in style at their Prom, marking the end of an incredible three years at UTC Derby.

It was a wonderful evening filled with laughter, memories and celebrations as students reflected on all they have achieved during their time with us.

We are so proud of everything they have accomplished and wish them every success for the future. We look forward to seeing many of them back for Year 12 in September.

Some of our Year 9 pupils recently took part in a STEM Inspiration event at Aston University!

The day was designed to showcase the breadth of opportunities within STEM, particularly in the world of STEM Racing.

Students experienced a range of interactive workshops and activities, including track racing challenges, a scrutineering masterclass, sessions with student alumni, and insights into what judges look for in competition entries.

They also benefited from industry-led input from Autodesk and Ansys, gaining valuable exposure to the technologies and skills used across engineering and design sectors.

Thank you to everyone involved for organising such a fantastic experience.

What an amazing day with Zoolab yesterday!

Students explored the exciting world of biomimicry engineering, learning how nature inspires real-life inventions, from transport design to new materials.

The session included a range of live animals, giving students the chance to get hands-on and see these ideas in action.

It was a fun, memorable experience that brought science, engineering, and the natural world together while encouraging students to think creatively about the future.
