Do you listen to that little nasty voice in your head?

You know the one I mean, the one that undermines your confidence. The one that says really awful things that you would NEVER say to anyone else. It whispers things like, you aren’t good enough, no one wants to hear your ideas, you aren’t interesting, everyone thinks you are rubbish at your job, mother, friend .. etc, etc.
It’s the one that stops you from putting your idea forward in a meeting, the one that stops you from wearing the outfit that you love but feels a little ‘out there’ for you. The one that stops you from, well loads of stuff.

So how do you make a change?

💀Take notice - when does it happen, what does it sound like, what exactly is the voice saying?

💀Have a protocol ready for when the thoughts occur. For example, if you think, “I’m a rubbish friend because I never respond to messages quickly” have some evidence at the ready to throw back! I’m a good friend because people see value in my contributions, I am a caring person I text my friend to make sure she felt ok when I knew she was sad etc etc.

💀Change the thought - instead of I’m a rubbish friend think I’m a good friend who is there for the urgent things.

So last week I talked about being kinder to yourself and Monday is the perfect time to check that you have planned some time in this week for yourself. Now I’m not talking about booking a spa, although if you want to then go for it! What I’m talking about are planned gaps in your week where you do something for you that you enjoy, that fill your cup up as the saying goes, add yourself a little glimmer into your life.

It’s important to give these things a proper place and title in your week otherwise life can feel like one big slog, plus if they are in your diary, it will happen! Remember, you don’t have to be productive every hour of everyday, it’s okay to sn**ch a few minutes to do something you want.

For me this looks like, a walk with a friend tagged on to the school drop off, I’ve booked in my exercise classes and I’m going to treat myself to a solo coffee shop moment.

Take 5 minutes now to check in your diary and add 2 things minimum and then hold yourself accountable.
