Littleover Community School

A huge congratulations to our Year 11 students; they have performed incredibly well and should feel very proud of their efforts. We wish all our students the best of luck with their future plans and look forward to welcoming the students who will be joining us for 6th Form.

The work of our students has resulted in over 770 grades being awarded at Grade 7 or above and this is a fantastic achievement. Over 75% of our students achieved a GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths and over 50% of our students achieved a Grade 4 or above in the Ebacc qualification.

We also want to take the opportunity to thank the staff members who have supported our Year 11 students throughout their time at Littleover Community School.

As we look ahead to our next results day we would like to share the following information for Year 11 students and their parents.

GCSE Results day 2026

Date: Thursday 20th August
Time: 9am
Location: Main Hall

Students must enter via Pastures Hill only. They need come around the back of school and enter the school hall from the G block side.

We would encourage all students to access their results from school if they are able where support is available. However, results are also available via Go4Schools from 10am.

The Education Record App is available from 11am.

We are delighted to celebrate with our Year 13 students collecting A Level results today.

From left to right in the photos attached we are able to highlight just a few of our wonderful young people.

Mohamad studied Maths, Further Maths, and Physics. He is going on to a degree apprenticeship in Engineering.

James achieved an impressive 3 A* A Level grades. He is going on to study Maths at The University of Manchester.

Tom also achieved 3 A* A Level grades and is going on to study Chemical Engineering at The University of Bath.

Adele achieved 3 A* A Level grades and is going on to study Maths at The University of Liverpool.

Ria is going on to study Primary Education at The University of Derby.

Zaynab is going on to study Law at Manchester Metropolitan University.

And, finally, Amara is going on to study Criminology at the University of Nottingham.

We are incredibly proud of all of our students and wish them every success in their very bright futures!

Thanks to our Technology team we have a truly wonderful new display on the lower C corridor.

Showcasing iconic design through time it will no doubt evoke nostalgia in some of our teaching staff and visitors!

We are proud to offer a full range of Technology subjects at LCS - Engineering, Resistant Materials, Graphic Design, Product Design, Food Technology, and Textiles - with many students going on to related Higher Education courses and employment. We hope that this new display plays a small part inspiring our designers of the future.

Littleover Sixth Form Honoured for Promoting Lifesaving Donation Awareness

Littleover Sixth Form has been recognised for its outstanding dedication to educating young people about blood, stem cell, and organ donation. During this week’s CPD session, Andrew Checkley from ASSET delivered a powerful presentation exploring how donation saves lives every single day. His talk encouraged students to consider joining the stem cell register and highlighted the hope such actions bring to those facing life‑threatening illnesses.

The session also acknowledged the sensitive nature of the topic, offering support to anyone personally affected by bereavement or illness. At the event, Mr D’Elia, Deputy Head of Sixth Form, received an award of appreciation and recognition for the school’s continued commitment to raising awareness of donation and inspiring students to make a difference.

This collaboration with ASSET reflects Littleover’s ongoing mission to empower students through compassion, knowledge, and community engagement.

On Tuesday night saw the final fixture for the year, the Year 8 Girls rearranged County Rounders tournament.
From the original 8 teams entered we were down to 3 on the day, and as we were hosting, we let QEGS play Dronfield to start, this saw a win for Dronfield by half a rounder.
For our first match we played QEGS and put them into bat first. They scored 4.5 rounders and we managed to get 4 of their batters out.
We then had a great batting innings scoring 6.5 with just 3 out. Given QEGS had lost to Dronfield, we knew that we needed the win to secure the gold, but a loss would also earn us silver.
We won the toss again and put Dronfield in to bat. We kept them at a real minimal score initially until the last ball or so, when the managed to score 3.5 rounders with 3 batters out.
We went into bat and at ball 15 it was all to play for, with us being on 3 rounders, need half draw, and 1 to win.
Thankfully some excellent batting allowed us 2 half rounders and we managed to score 4 rounders, with 5 batters out.
This meant that we had won the tournament by half a rounder and were declared County Champions.
A huge well done to the girls and to those who stepped up to play and those playing in a different position because of injury/absence.

Reading is something we really value at LCS!

This morning we hosted a Reading Celebration event in the library for all our Y7s who have worked hard this year to improve their reading with either Mrs Allen or Mrs Bryden. They received a certificate and a selection of goodies to say a big well done.
