Today, Level 2 Nail students were delighted to welcome Hollie Lowe, owner of Beau Monde Nail Salon 💅
During her visit, Hollie shared valuable insights into running a successful salon and building a rewarding career within the beauty industry.
She spoke about the importance of delivering exceptional customer service, creating positive first impressions, developing strong client relationships, and finding a service you genuinely enjoy providing.
Students were encouraged to go above and beyond to ensure every client leaves with a memorable experience.
As part of the session, Hollie demonstrated how to create a classic French tip and explained the correct techniques for safely removing nail products whilst preserving the health and condition of the natural nail.
Hollie also discussed the differences between self-employment and employment within the industry, sharing her own experiences of getting started and growing her career.
She highlighted the importance of patience, practice, and continuous learning, reminding students that achieving perfection takes time.
Emphasising the value of professional products and regulated equipment, she encouraged students never to take shortcuts and instead focus on delivering high-quality treatments that clients will remember and recommend.
Beau Monde has a rich history within Derby's beauty industry, having originally been established by Hollie's mother, Georgina Telford, on Normanton Road in 1978.
The salon relocated to Duckworth Square in the early 1980s before moving to Irongate in the early 1990s, where it operated across three floors.
Today, Beau Monde is based at Park Farm in Allestree and is recognised as Derby's most established award-winning nail salon, with a strong focus on using only the highest quality & standard of products.
Hollie's own journey is a fantastic example of career progression and determination, and serves as great inspiration to our Beauty students.
Starting as a Saturday assistant over 20 years ago, she never imagined she would become a nail technician, let alone take ownership of the business.
Twelve years ago, Hollie took over the salon and has continued to build on its longstanding reputation for excellence.
