If you grow fruit and vegetables at home or at an allotment would you have any waste that you can donate to help Team Compost? For the Breaston in Bloom compost bins, we can also use leafy debris from the veg, spent small vegetable plants (with no roots), fruit and vegetable scraps. These break down quickly and help us keep the compost turn around to six months.
We don’t add flowers, whole plants, or anything woody, these take much longer to break down and would slow the process. We also need the village residents to carry on donating their fruit and veg scraps, we can't make our fab compost without it. All other food waste can go into the lovely new council food caddies.
It’s such a satisfying cycle of reuse turning veg and fruit waste into lovely rich compost that goes straight back into our village planters and beds. Please drop off at our collection boxes at the jubilee garden or Duffields Shade Garden 🥒🍉🍏🍌🍐🥬🥕🫑🫛🥦
