💙 An Important Update About Our Fundraiser 💙

Firstly, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Inflatable 5K fundraiser. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we exceeded our fundraising target and were overwhelmed by the support shown for Ivy House School.

Unfortunately, due to an issue with our original JustGiving page, it was closed and all donations have been automatically refunded to donors. We are absolutely devastated that this has happened and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The funds raised are incredibly important to us and will go directly towards supporting our amazing students, helping us provide opportunities, resources and experiences that make a real difference to their lives.

We are delighted to welcome the Learning Disability Team as our next guest speakers for Derby parent carers.

Glow & Grow Cafe

10-12pm

Learning Disability Annual Health Checks are offered from age 14, but this session is for ANY parent carer who has a child or young person with, or who may have, a learning disability.

No official diagnosis is needed to attend

According to Mencap, a learning disability is a lifelong condition that usually becomes apparent in early childhood. It involves a reduced intellectual ability and can make everyday tasks, like managing money, socialising, household chores or using public transport more challenging.

Children and young people may take longer to learn new skills, understand information or interact with others, and the level of support needed varies from person to person.

If your child has global developmental delay, or you think they may meet this definition, regardless of their age, this session will be really valuable.

We will be exploring:
What the Annual Health Check involves
Why early, proactive and preventative health care matters
How to get added to the GP Learning Disability Register
Eligibility, access and what support looks like in practice

If you’re unsure whether this applies to your child/young person, please do come, as that’s exactly what this session is about.

Our students had a wonderful trip to the Heart of the Park Cafe this week! 🌟 They measured, poured, mixed, and cut out delicious biscuits, making memories and learning in the kitchen. 🍪✨ Can't wait to see what they create next!

🎬✨ Bakewell Class had an amazing day out at Derby Quad Cinema! They enjoyed indulging in delicious snacks while watching a fantastic film with their friends. It was a day filled with laughter, fun, and excitement that everyone thoroughly enjoyed! 🍿❤️

This week, Calke jumped straight into our next topic: "Our Bodies"! 👫✨ During our Understanding the World session, we explored what our bodies look like inside and out, comparing the similarities and differences with our friends. It's amazing to learn about ourselves and each other! 💖💪

🌟 What a fantastic baking session Little Gems class had before half term! 🥳 The children really engaged with the process, enjoying every moment of smelling, tasting, and mixing the ingredients together. 🍪 The biscuits turned out delicious! 😋

🌊☀️ Our beach day before half term was absolutely amazing! We had so much fun with a variety of activities that made the day unforgettable! Can't wait for more sunny adventures! 🏖️🏄‍♂️
