Established in 2012, we’ve been providing exceptional childcare with a focus on nurturing young minds.

Our diverse curriculum includes Forest School, Baking Classes, Makaton, Sports Sessions and more – ensuring your little ones thrive⭐️ Shardlow Day Nursery opened its doors in 2012, offering excellent childcare for 0 - 11 years in a safe, secure and stimulating environment. Our team understand that you will want the very highest standards of care and education for your child, along with peace of mind in the knowledge that your children's needs and requirements are being met. The nursery is set in a lovely rural position with no main roads. It is within the private grounds of Shardlow Hall with its historical gardens. The nursery has its own secure garden and playground and additional use of the grounds of Shardlow Hall, stretching over 8 acres of land for picnics and exploring the nature around. This provides a truly idyllic setting for your child to enjoy. Our aim is to provide a safe, secure and loving environment where all the children will achieve their full potential in a home from home environment. Shardlow Day Nursery will encourage your child to reach their full potential at each stage of their development and work in partnership with every parent/carer to assist us to provide exceptional care specific to each child's individual needs.

Mili works incredibly hard in her role as our SEN Support, always going above and beyond to support our children and their families. She has a fantastic wealth of knowledge and understanding surrounding SEN, and she uses this to make a real difference to the children in our care.

She is always there to offer support, guidance and reassurance, and continues to work tirelessly to ensure every child feels understood, included and supported. 💕

🌳 The Oak Tree🌳

Our Daffodils have been bringing their story The Oak Tree to life through this lovely indoor tuff tray invitation. 🌿

After looking through the book together and talking about the animals, insects and nature they could see, the children explored a range of natural resources, using their own ideas to extend the play.

Soon, they were busy creating their very own bug house🐞, deciding where the different little creatures might live. The play then took another direction as the children introduced vehicles, experimenting with sending them down the wooden ramp and discovering what happened when they changed how and where they placed them. 🚗🪵

It was wonderful to hear the language and conversations that flowed throughout, with the children sharing ideas, using their imaginations and learning from one another.

🌿 Daffodils’ Forest School Adventures 🌿

“The outdoor environment offers children endless opportunities to explore, discover, and learn through real-life experiences.” 🍂🌳

Our Daffodils have had another wonderful Forest School session, filled with curiosity, creativity and lots of hands-on learning! 🤎

The children enjoyed flower pressing using hand-held hammers, creating their own prints and patterns. This is something our Daffodils particularly enjoy, and it provides wonderful opportunities to develop hand-eye coordination, concentration, control and confidence when using tools. 🌸🔨

As always, the children were able to freely explore the Forest School environment, following their own interests and ideas. We discovered lots of worms 🪱, enjoyed plenty of water play, and the children loved using the scoops to collect the water before trying to catch it as it travelled along!

There were, of course, lots of mud pies being created! 🤎 The children independently chose to get messy with the mud, exploring its texture and making their very own muddy handprints. We saw lots of sharing, communication, cooperation and imaginative play as the children played alongside one another.

And what better way to finish our adventure than with a snack around the Forest School fire 🔥, taking time to listen, observe and notice the changes happening around us as we begin to transition from summer into autumn. 🍂

Another lovely session full of child-led learning, independence, exploration and curiosity exactly what Forest School is all about! 🌿🤎

🌟 Above & Beyond Employee of the Month – August 🌟

A huge congratulations to Tasia on being our Above & Beyond Employee of the Month! 🏆💐

Tasia has really grown in confidence since stepping into her new SEN Support role and has been a real credit to the children and families she has been working closely with. 💕🌈

Her dedication, caring nature and commitment to supporting our children has been wonderful to see. She has built some lovely relationships and continues to go above and beyond to ensure the children and families she supports feel valued and cared for.

🌿🔥 Forest School Adventures with Preschool! 🔥🌿

What a busy and exciting Forest School session we had today with Ed and Leah! Our Preschool children were straight into exploring, creating and getting stuck in!

🔥 We started with the fire, where the children helped make pastry twists before enjoying the very important job of taste testing them afterwards! 😋 With Ed and Leah supporting the children throughout, they had opportunities to develop their independence, confidence and practical skills, as well as learning about fire safety and cooking outdoors.

🐛🌱 We then got creative at our mud pie tuff tray using mud, leaves, sticks and other natural resources to make an insect lunch! 🐜 The children’s imaginations were in full swing as they developed their language, creativity and understanding of the natural world.

🥕🥔🌿 We were also joined by Katy, who helped the children harvest our freshly grown carrots, potatoes and parsnips. There was lots of excitement as the children pulled the vegetables from the ground, giving them a hands-on experience of where their food comes from while developing their physical skills, coordination and curiosity.

And we’re not finished yet… 👀🔥 Tomorrow, we’ll be taking our freshly harvested vegetables back to the fire to cook up something yummy together!

We love seeing our Forest School sessions bring learning to life real experiences, real skills and lots of fun along the way!❤️🌿

🎓To Our Wonderful Preschool Leavers...🎓

Where has the time gone?

It feels like only yesterday many of you walked through our doors for the very first time and now you're ready to begin an exciting new chapter at school. Watching you all grow into kind, confident, caring and curious little people has been an absolute privilege.

We know each and every one of you has a bright future ahead. Keep being the kind, curious and confident children you've become, embrace every new adventure and always remember just how capable you are.

To our wonderful families, thank you for trusting us with your precious children. It has been an honour to be part of their early years journey and to watch them learn, grow and thrive.

We'd also like to say a huge thank you for all of your incredibly kind cards, thoughtful gifts and lovely messages. Your words of appreciation mean more than you'll ever know and are a real reminder of why we love what we do.

Although it's time to say goodbye, you'll always be a part of the Shardlow Hall family and we hope you'll come back and visit us soon.

Good luck to every single one of our school leavers. We are so proud of you all and can't wait to hear about all of your new adventures🌟

🌟 July Above & Beyond – Employee of the Month 🌟

Kim has quickly become a valued and much-loved member of our team, and we are delighted to celebrate all of the hard work, dedication and commitment she has shown during the short time she has been with us.

🐾💛 A VERY SPECIAL VISITOR! 💛🐾

Today, our Daffodils and Preschool children were so excited to welcome a very special visitor from Guide Dogs UK — meet Cedar! 🐶✨

Cedar was such a gentle, calm and friendly visitor, and the children absolutely loved spending time with him. From gentle strokes to plenty of tummy tickles, Cedar certainly received lots of love! 🥰🐾

For our children, visits like this provide wonderful opportunities to learn through real-life experiences. The children were able to practise being gentle, patient and caring, while developing their confidence around animals and learning how to respect and care for another living thing. 🌿💚

Animals can have such a positive impact on young children, helping to encourage empathy, kindness, communication and emotional development. Watching the children carefully approach Cedar, talk about him and show such gentle interactions was truly lovely to see. 🐶✨

The children also enjoyed learning about Cedar and the amazing job he does, discovering how Guide Dogs UK train and support dogs to help people living with sight loss.

At Shardlow Hall, our children are at the heart of everything we do, and we love giving them experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence and create special memories. 💛

A huge thank you to Guide Dogs UK and, of course, to Cedar for being such a wonderful four-legged friend for the day! 🐾🐶
