Thanks to the TRC and Betsy de Thierry's wonderful and inspiring trauma course, we always work in a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive way at Relax Kids Derby! Watch this little video to understand the importance of co-regulation to help children manage their big emotions and challening behaviours. All of our classes are focused on teaching co-regulation skills like deep breathing, massage, yoga stretches, moving our bodies, playing together and guided visualisations to encourage a deep relaxation. โ๏ธNew five week block of Calm & Relax Classes starts this Monday on Zoom! ๐คฉ We will explore all the things that bring us happiness whilst also learning some fun relaxation and stress management tools such as deep breathing, yoga stretches, self- and peer-massage and deep relaxation. โ๏ธ
๐ Please drop us a message for more info/details and to book your place. The sessions are best suited for children between the ages of 5-12. It is possible to book the block of five sessions for ยฃ25/child or to choose the drop-in pay as you go option for ยฃ6/session/child. We can also arrange a taster session before committing to any block payments so donโt hesitate to get in touch! Looking forward to seeing you all Monday! ๐

๐ Happy Mental Health Awareness Week ๐
We love the theme of โexpress yourselfโ this year - so many different ways to do just that, be it verbally, through our bodies, through art or whatever other way we might be able to think of! We got to know and befriend our sadness monster this evening and explored lots of different ways of expressing our sadness, using the Relax Kids Seven Steps of Move, Play, Breathe, Stretch, Feel, Believe & Relax and even cresting a drawing of our individual sadness monsters! It was beautiful and I love running these sessions more than I can put into words! I never thought they would work so well via Zoom and I am incredibly grateful that I was proven wrong. Sometimes we might be expressing ourselves even more that way than we used to in our regular face to face classes, simply because expressing our thoughts, ideas, beliefs is one of the main ways in which we can virtually interact and connect?! ๐ฅฐ

๐ Wishing you all the best for 2021 and hope that despite the circumstances you are all as well, healthy and safe as possible. As promised regular Relax Kids Zoom classes will finally resume next Monday 11/01. Iโll be offering a six week block in which we get to meet, explore and learn to tame our big monster emotions in a fun, imaginative and creative way. ๐
๐พThe aim of these sessions is (in addition to generally learning and practising relaxation and stress management tools) to get to know our sadness, worry, anger and fear monsters. Weโll take time to befriend them and to gain a better understanding when they crop up and how they are actually trying their best to help and protect us! ๐พ
