Sensory Story Time: 'Music on the Moon',

Join us at Longton Library on Saturday 29 August, 10:30am for a magical 30 minute space adventure experience filled with imagination, gentle adventure and sensory-rich moments.

Specially designed for families. Welcoming to those with additional needs.

Led by the New Vic Theatre’s Education team Sensory Story Time forms part of the theatre’s anniversary project - 40 Stories @ 40 - celebrating four decades of stories that bring our community together.'

This special session will be followed by our usual Saturday Crafting for children and families.

We are the UK’s first story-telling led sewing-literacy programme for primary schools.

We are an author & illustrator team, born and bred in Stoke-on-Trent. We are also National Literacy Trust Champions and we are working alongside Janome UK.

We would like to introduce you to Polly Pin, a series of engaging, hands-on workshops designed specifically for EYFS and KS1 children. We offer bespoke workshops, ranging from 1-hour sessions to half a day or a full day.

Our workshops are classroom based and are carefully planned to support and enrich learning across all areas of the EYFS/KS1 Curriculum while providing children with a fun, creative and memorable experience.

Our workshops go far beyond sharing our story and teaching children how to sew.

The workshops promote:
 Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
 Communication and language development
 Creativity and imagination
 Literacy through storytelling and illustration
 Problem-solving and critical thinking
 Confidence, resilience and perseverance
 Personal, social and emotional development

Creative activities such as sewing and drawing are also recognised for their positive impact on children's mental health and wellbeing, helping them to relax, express themselves, improve concentration and build self-confidence.
Our aim is to inspire children through creativity while supporting teachers with a curriculum-linked experience that complements learning in the classroom.

Our workshops range from one hour sessions to half a day or a full day. For schools outside of the Stoke-on-Trent area, we will need to include the cost of fuel to the price.

Another wonderful Summer Special, ‘We’re Going On A Shark Hunt.’ 🦈
We found a shark in an underwater cave in Reading Fairy’s sensory story.
We travelled through the whooshing wind, hot sun, swishy seaweed, splashing waves and underwater bubbles!
Shark decided we need to go on another Shark hunt and hid in each play area at Once Upon a Time Staffordshire
Can you find Shark’s hiding spots? 👀
Some are easier than others….

On Friday we had a snapping time singing rhymes about ducks and crocodiles! We played with objects beginning with c like crocodile and cars. Our sensory story took us through the jungle where we met a snake, monkey and a crocodile! Book Bear brought along a book about the Ugly Duckling which had been taken over by a crocodile! We finished the session creating our own crocodiles to play with. 🐊
