Lots of children had a great time at the Colour Run on Friday! Thank you friends_of_borrow_wood_school for organising the event 😊

🏃‍♂️It’s been a few weeks now since our Sponsored Mile as it has taken so long to gather the money and count it. We have been truly amazed that we have raised a huge £3696 to go towards improving our lunchtime provision!
Thank you to everyone who sponsored the children; they had a great time and the teamwork and encouragement they showed each other was fabulous. The whole community at their Borrow Wood BEST!

🏆 Another piece of silverware to add to our cabinet! The Year 5/6 football team were victorious after some nail-biting penalties as part of the A52 Challenge Trophy against fairfieldspenceracademy. Great work! 🏆

👮 Earlier in the week we had a visit from Daisy, our local Youth Engagement Officer. She spoke to the children about staying safe over the summer break, reminding them of making good choices when out in the community and ensuring we are always being our BEST 👮

💛 KS2 Sports Day yesterday was a huge success! The children tried their best in a host of different events. We had some excellent javelin throwing (accompanied by lots of ducking in the crowd!); super speedy sprinters; lots of giggling in the three-legged race and some very closely contested tug-of-war matches! Even the parents got stuck in! The winning team were yellow for the second year in a row 🏆 Well done everyone 💛

Earlier in the week, the Year 5/6 Football Team attended the Derby City Football Presentation Evening. Their smiles said it all as they were awarded trophies for being at the top of both the League and the Cup! 🏆 Well done everyone, you certainly are at your Borrow Wood BEST!

An exciting afternoon bringing together four Odyssey Collaborative Trust school choirs to record our first joint song!

The Sponsored Mile may have been rained off ☔️ but the children still had a great day celebrating the start of the World Cup!
🌎 We dressed in the colours of our nominated countries, learnt some interesting facts about them and enjoyed some delicious cakes at dinner time!
🎨 Mrs Bartlett was particularly impressed with the creativity of the ERF staff who designed their own T-shirts!

🧠 We started the day with a performance by Matt Miller who said ‘Reading lets your brain breathe’
✍️ Ramzee told us that ‘Drawing is an international language’
❌ Claire Powell says that bad drawings are how you learn and you’ve got to keep practising
👀 Fred Blunt did some amazing storytelling and he recommends to always start drawing with the eyes!
🦸🏼 Nathanel Lessore unleashed our creativity by asking us to think of good and bad superpowers. Our favourite from Borrow Wood was touching things and turning them into Mac and Cheese!
🦡 And finally Susannah Lloyd told us how to spot a badger… who knew that Mrs Dawson was a badger disguised as a human!

All in all, a brilliant day!!
