🏆 What a beautiful piece of silverware this is! Well done to the Year 5 and 6 Football Team who are worthy winners of the Cup! Congratulations 🥳 Well done to Mr Saeed and Mr Gilbert for their support with coaching the team 🏆

The Sponsored Mile may have been rained off ☔️ but the children still had a great day celebrating the start of the World Cup!
🌎 We dressed in the colours of our nominated countries, learnt some interesting facts about them and enjoyed some delicious cakes at dinner time!
🎨 Mrs Bartlett was particularly impressed with the creativity of the ERF staff who designed their own T-shirts!

🧠 We started the day with a performance by Matt Miller who said ‘Reading lets your brain breathe’
✍️ Ramzee told us that ‘Drawing is an international language’
❌ Claire Powell says that bad drawings are how you learn and you’ve got to keep practising
👀 Fred Blunt did some amazing storytelling and he recommends to always start drawing with the eyes!
🦸🏼 Nathanel Lessore unleashed our creativity by asking us to think of good and bad superpowers. Our favourite from Borrow Wood was touching things and turning them into Mac and Cheese!
🦡 And finally Susannah Lloyd told us how to spot a badger… who knew that Mrs Dawson was a badger disguised as a human!

All in all, a brilliant day!!

🌈 Year 6 are thoroughly enjoying their residential this week. They have been kayaking, shelter building, fire starting, trapeze jumping… and much more! We had to share this brilliant photo, what a lovely image 🌈

In assembly today, Emma from Spondon Library came to share the Summer Reading Challenge - Read to the Beat! All of the Borrow Wood children have library cards so will be able to take full advantage of this event in the National Year of Reading.

EYFS and KS1 Sports Day was delightful! Thank you to all the parents for your support and to the staff for organising a brilliant afternoon 😊. Have a lovely half term everyone!

⚽️ Last week, the Year 5/6 football team played in the quarter-final match against Wren Park. The team showed a lot of resilience and determination which paid off with a 2-0 victory. Everyone played their part brilliantly - well done! Roll on the semi-finals! ⚽️
