💚🏆 Celebrating the people behind The EYC… 🏆💚

As we continue to look back on our Going for Gold – Stronger Than Ever Awards Evening 2026, we wanted to share another very special part of the night – taking the time to recognise some of the people who have helped shape EYC into what it is today. ✨

While so much of what we celebrate happens within our nurseries, behind every setting is a wider team of people working hard to support, guide and champion them every step of the way.

On the evening, we were proud to recognise our Area Manager Kaysha, our Company Administrator Sue and our longest-serving member of staff Ali – three people who, in very different roles, have dedicated so much to The EYC and have supported each and every one of our nurseries to develop, grow and continue moving forward. 💚

Their knowledge, commitment and belief in what we are building together has been an important part of our journey, and it was only right that we took a moment to say thank you. 🏆

We also celebrated two fantastic achievements from across our nurseries…

Following their recent Ofsted inspections, both nurseries achieved Strong in All Areas – a reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment of their entire teams. 💚👏

Our Going for Gold – Stronger Than Ever evening was about recognising not only where we are today, but the people, teams and achievements that have helped us get here.

From those working directly with our children every day, to those supporting our nurseries behind the scenes – every person has a part to play in the EYC story. 💚

Here’s to continuing to grow, achieve and become Stronger Than Ever – together. 🏆✨

🏆✨ Celebrating our EYC Award Winners! ✨🏆

It’s hard to believe that a whole week has passed since we brought our EYC team together for our Going for Gold – Stronger Than Ever Awards Evening 2026! 💚

A week on, we’re continuing to relive such a special evening, and today we’re celebrating our incredible EYC Award Winners. 🏆

What makes these awards particularly special is that they were voted for by the people who see the difference our teams make every day – their fellow team members and our EYC parents and families.

From colleagues recognising one another’s dedication, teamwork and passion, to parents sharing the impact individuals have had on their children and families, every nomination told its own story. 💚

Our awards give us the opportunity to recognise those moments that can sometimes go unseen – the extra care, the support for a colleague, the relationships built with families, and the commitment to giving our children the very best experiences.

To every one of our winners, nominees and team members – congratulations and thank you for everything you bring to EYC. 🏆✨

✨🏆 And then it was time to welcome our team… 🏆✨

After months of planning, there was nothing better than seeing our EYC teams arrive ready to celebrate together at our Going for Gold – Stronger Than Ever Awards Evening 2026! 💚

From the moment everyone arrived, the celebrations had already begun – with our tuk tuk and rickshaw entrance, plenty of smiles, laughter and, of course, lots of photos! ✨🥂

One of our favourite moments has to be seeing everyone together for our whole EYC team photo. 💚

Bringing together colleagues from across our nurseries and wider EYC team really puts into perspective just how much our community has grown – and the incredible group of people behind everything we do.

Different nurseries. Different roles. One EYC team. 💚

✨🏆 Going for Gold – Stronger Than Ever! 🏆✨

This Saturday, we were so excited to welcome our EYC team to our Annual Awards Evening 2026 at the Derbyshire County Cricket Club. 💚

Our awards evening is about so much more than trophies and celebrations. It’s our opportunity to bring our whole EYC community together and recognise the incredible people who make what we do possible every single day.

Our teams give so much to the children and families within our communities. They create places where children feel safe, valued and supported to explore, learn and grow, and we believe that dedication deserves to be recognised and celebrated. 💚

It’s also a chance to stop and reflect on everything we have achieved together, celebrate individual and team successes, and simply say thank you to the people at the heart of EYC.

This year’s theme, Going for Gold – Stronger Than Ever, celebrated exactly that – the strength of our teams, how far we have come together and everything still ahead of us. ✨

🌟 STAFF APPRECIATION SHOUT OUT! 🌟

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Abby! 💚

Abby is a fantastic team player who is always willing to share her knowledge, ideas and good practice with others. Her supportive approach and willingness to help her colleagues make such a positive difference to our team and the children we care for.

Thank you, Abby, for sharing your expertise and helping us all to learn and grow together. We’re so lucky to have you as part of the Sunnyhill Day Nursery team! 🥰

Pre-school Cornflour Colour Experiment! 🌈

We have been busy experimenting, exploring and getting messy as they created their very own colourful cornflour mixtures! 🎨✨

They used cornflour, water, paint, pipettes and measuring jugs to explore what happened when they combined different ingredients.

They carefully measured the amount of water they needed. One child confidently said, “6, I need 6 water!” while pointing to the number 6. 🔢💧

The children then used pipettes to drip their chosen paint colours into the water, carefully watching as the colours changed. They experimented with mixing and predicting what colours they might create. 🎨

Once everything was added, the children mixed the ingredients together with their hands, exploring the texture and consistency of the cornflour.

👂 We heard lots of wonderful language:
💬 “It’s dripping off my fingers.”
💬 “I’m squeezing the water, look!”
💬 “My water is blue and orange.”
💬 “The water is mixing together.”
💬 “Don’t put too much blue, as it will turn green.”
💬 “My cornflour has gone!”
💬 “It’s sticking to my fingers.”
💬 “I’ve filled it to the top.”

This experience supported the children’s mathematical development, language and communication, colour recognition, fine motor skills, problem-solving and sensory exploration — all while having lots of fun! 👐

🍁Season of autumn 🍂

Pre-school children had lots of fun creating their own autumn trees using different materials and colours.
We talked about the changes that will be coming during autumn, such as leaves changing colour as they fall from the trees and pinecones🌲

They used orange and brown paint to decorate their trees and explored different ways of making marks.
The children explored mathematics in their creations using different shapes, sizes and colours, developing their creativity and fine motor skills as they painted, placed and arranged the materials.

A lovely opportunity for the children to express their ideas and enjoy learning through creativity making their own unique autumn trees! 🍂🤎

🍪 Busy Bakers in the Toddler Room! 🍪

Our toddlers have been busy baking.

Can you guess what they made? Delicious cinnamon oat biscuits! 🍪

This activity provided the children with a wonderful opportunity to explore a variety of ingredients while developing their independence and confidence as they carefully practised pouring ingredients into the bowl. 🥣

Each child had the opportunity to mix the ingredients in their own bowl, supporting the development of their fine motor skills, coordination and confidence, while learning new skills and experiences 👏

There was lots of communication throughout the activity, with the children using words such as “mixing” and “squeeze” as they squeezed the bottle of golden syrup.

This provided a lovely opportunity to develop their vocabulary and language skills 💬✨

We even received some lovely comments from parents about how delicious the biscuits were! 😋🍪

🌿 Exploring Moss 🌿

Pre-school have been exploring a new natural material moss They have enjoyed using their hands to scrunch, squeeze and pull the moss apart, discovering how it feels and how it can change shape.

The children then used the moss alongside our wild animals to create cosy homes and nests, helping to keep their animals warm because it is cold outside. 🐻🦔🌿

We heard lots of wonderful language as the children explored:

💬 “It’s green and fluffy.”
💬 “Look, I can pull it a long way!”
💬 “My animal is hidden.”

This experience encouraged the children to develop their sensory awareness, fine motor skills, imagination, problem-solving and language, while connecting their play to the changing weather and the natural world around them. 🍃✨
