Today, in Mrs White's assembly, we considered what makes a good learner and how we can show a positive attitude towards learning. We covered how to show good listening, the importance of using a growth mind set, the use of learning partners, showing respect, being responsible and how we can help others. Many children shared thoughtful ideas and examples which apply to our learning in school.

This week we had a wonderful time learning how to build our emotional health through relaxation and meditation with Relax Kids. We followed 7 easy steps.

Move -High energy physical exercise and dance.
Play- Interactive games and social play.
Stretch- Gentle physical stretching and body awareness.
Feel - Peer or self message to promote calming brain chemicals.
Breathe - Simple breathing and vagus nerve exercises.
Believe - Positive affirmations to build self-esteem.

This experience has taught all our children lifelong emotional skills through a unique, evidence based 7 step approach. Thank you, Relax Kids.

To end Wellbeing Week, Year 5 focused on spreading kindness and positivity around school.

The children designed their own positive affirmation messages and then used chalk to draw them around the playground for others to see. Their thoughtful words helped spread smiles, encouragement and confidence throughout the school day.

This week, the nursery children had their first sports day. They enjoyed taking part in the bean bag balancing race, obstacle course, egg and spoon race and throwing the javelin game. The game they enjoyed the most was the aiming the water at Mrs Abbott game. Well done to all the nursery for their amazing throwing skills, Mrs Abbott got very wet!

On Monday, Year 6 had an amazing day at Outdoor Elements. They were lucky enough to experience new and challenging activities, including tree climbing, crate staking and zip lining. Everyone had a fantastic time and showed great resilience.

Today in Mrs White’s whole school assembly, we explored the important themes of fairness and equity.

Two children were asked to catch different balls from different distances, despite being different ages. This helped us think about what is fair and what is equitable.

We discussed why fairness is important and worked together to think of ways to make the challenge more equitable. After making some changes, both children were successful. This was a great reminder that giving people what they need to succeed helps everyone have a fair chance!
