Cold water shock can affect anyone - even strong swimmers, even on hot days.
• Warm weather doesn't mean warm water - open water stays dangerously cold.
• Cold water shock causes an involuntary gasp and loss of breathing control within seconds - even for strong swimmers.
• Even confident swimmers can quickly lose strength, control, and coordination. Panic makes it worse.
It doesn't take long for things to go wrong in open water - even for strong swimmers.

It can be a daunting experience when looking to enroll onto swimming lessons for the first time, trying to figure out the correct class and day etc. We have a simple 4 step process:
1. Enrolment & Booking
It is always best to have a conversation with our swim manager to discuss your child's needs and potential level, particularly if they already have some swim ability and confidence. Once this has been established and you have an agreed class, you can enroll online and the process takes you through step by step.
2. Assessment & Level Placement
It may be necessary to carry out a short in-water assessment, this can be done in two ways:
In certain cases as a separate stand alone assessment.
Or
Most usually as a class trial, if a class has been agreed, then a trial session can be offered, this allows for a more formal assessment.
3. Pre-Lesson Preparation
Once stage 1 and 2 are complete and enrolment is completed, you will receive welcome info (arrival time, pool rules, kit list)
Prepare essentials:
Swimwear, towel, goggles, swim cap (if required)
Arrive early on the first day to:
Check in
Meet the instructor
Get familiar with changing rooms and pool layout
4. First Lesson Experience
Introduction to the instructor and group
Safety briefing (pool rules, exits, behaviour)
Warm-up and basic skill assessment in water
Start learning core skills (e.g., water confidence, floating, kicking)
Feedback given at the end with next steps
It really is that simple and you can start your journey today by emailing [email protected] and our swim manager Marija will be delighted to support you.

One of the most rewarding parts of being a swimming teacher, is seeing the children develop and collect their badges and certificates.
Alvey and Aurora have both done that and here they are with their Duck 3 and Duck 4 badges and Medal.
Well done to both!

The Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK launched their latest bystander campaign for lifesaving today with an important message.
Lifesaving skills are something that hopefully you never have to use, but are critical if you find yourself either in trouble or helping someone who is in trouble.
Our Rookie Lifeguard program also teaches rescue skills and is a great way to build on your swimming ability and can be a pathway to becoming a full lifeguard.
If you would like to join our program you can do so by contacting our swimming manager Marija via email [email protected]
Today marks the launch of Phone Float Throw, the latest bystander rescue campaign from the National Water Safety Forum (NWSF), of which RLSS UK is a member.
If you see someone struggling in the water, your first instinct might be to jump in, but that can put you in danger. Instead, remember:
📱 PHONE 999 for help
🌊 Tell them to FLOAT on their back
🛟 THROW rescue equipment to keep them afloat until emergency services arrive
RLSS UK is proud to support this vital message and collaborate on water safety campaigns under the brand with this network of experts in drowning prevention.
