Incredibly proud teacher moment 🥰

Isabella is only 13 years old and was shortlisted out of 63,500 submissions in to the John Locke Institute global essay competition. We attended the gala dinner in Mayfair London last night where she received her certificate of recognition.

Isabella is a dedicated student who chose to spend her summer writing an essay for this incredibly prestigious competition and it was wonderful seeing her effort rewarded. On a personal level, I love tutoring Isabella and it was an honour to be invited to attend this event with her. Very well done Isabella 🌟

I would like to introduce everyone to our absolutely perfect little girl, Amelia Jasmine Miller 💕 born on 06.07.23, weighing 7pounds 13ounces.

She joined us after 4 days of labour, via an emergency c-section, meaning that mummy is very sore and recovery will take a minimum of 6 weeks before I can drive again. That being said, I would like to let everyone know that I will be taking 8 weeks off work, from yesterday (10.07.23) meaning I plan to return the week commencing 4th September.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my families for their continued support ❤️ not only by allowing me the privilege of helping your children and giving me such a warm welcome in to your homes week after week, but also for all the gifts and well wishes I received throughout my pregnancy 🥰 If any of my families would like to come and visit myself and Amelia in the summer holidays, please send me a message as it would be lovely to see you all 🥰

I absolutely love being able to help make a difference in the lives of the children I teach. Seeing children progress and achieve is all the reward I ever need as it truly does make my heart full. ❤️

Every now and again I also receive, very appreciated, yet really not expected or needed gifts. Today was another day where I received a stunning bunch of flowers for the achievements made by one of my students, having had his school report sent home.

I want to congratulate Finlay on an exceptional turn around in his reading and writing over the past year, as well as excelling in all other areas of the curriculum! 👏👏🌟 You’re one of the hardest working, most determined boys I have met, who manages to juggle so many other hobbies outside of school, whilst ensuring your school work hasn’t fallen behind, quite the opposite in fact, as you’ve closed the gap. Smashed it, huge well done! Very proud tutor over here 👩🏼‍🏫🥰

This makes me tremendously proud 🥰

This child’s parents made the difficult decision to start homeschooling their child after primary school. It became clear to them that mainstream education wasn’t the the most suitable teaching style for their incredibly gifted child.

Fast forward a couple of years, an hour a week of maths tutoring from myself, this child now wishes to study at collage and is needing to complete the necessary maths and English entry exams, so is attending collage a couple of days a week to gain these. During this time, I have now been informed that they are scoring the second highest in the class! I couldn’t be happier. Proof that mainstream education doesn’t have to be the only way for every child to achieve their academic goals 👌🥰 huge well done!

Wonderful writing! ✏️🖊

Two formal letters of complaint completed by my students, one age 6 and another age 10. Despite the task being the same, differentiation can been seen through the choices of vocabulary used, amount of writing, punctuation, overall structure and grammatical accuracy. Examples such as these enable us to see where progress can be made 🥰

Both pieces are excellent and prove to me that my amazingly creative writers are right on track 👌 well done.

Teaching is incredibly rewarding without receiving gifts. I must say however, it’s amazing to know how much I am valued by all of my students. Thank you again everyone 🥰

I would however like to say a huge thank you to some of my wonderful students and their families this week for giving me a wonderful send off for the summer. I’ve received very thoughtful gifts and was incredibly surprised when some of my students had decorated their kitchen to have a small end of year celebration with me 💕🤍

I wish everyone the most amazing summer and would like to thank everyone once more for your continued support and for enabling me to help your incredible children!

I could literally burst with pride because of all that my students achieve every single week 🥰 I am so grateful to you all for your continued hard work and determination.

This week however, I have had one child in particular who has absolutely blown me away (not that my other children don’t, but I felt this deserved a mention!)

Saba (10 year old) used to struggle with her confidence when writing and didn’t believe in herself. She always tried her best, but she also hindered herself because of her own insecurities around writing, she felt she wasn’t very good at it.

I have been working with her on her chosen genre; Horror. We have completed a lot of background work including: learning about vocabulary, how to use figurative language and a range of linguistic features, how to plan effectively for a piece of writing and how to engage a reader, to mention but a few!

Below are examples of her own independent writing from the 17th August 2021 and the homework she has just sent me tonight. The progress she has made really is every credit to her. I have certainly noticed a big change, not only in her writing, but in her attitude and confidence also ❤️

No child should ever need to feel anxious, uncomfortable or worried to go to school 😢 Unfortunately the majority of the time they feel this way because of their peers, not the school work, staff or routine.
