Chaffinches had a visit from police officers from the Civil Nuclear Constabulary. They got to sit in the police car and use some of the police equipment such as torches and handcuffs. They also tried on some police hats, helmets and jackets. Chaffinches listened to the different types of sirens and used their phonics knowledge to read the light up displays on the back of the car. Chaffinches asked lots of interesting questions and learnt lots about police work.

The children had a great day when we had a visit from athlete, Richard Potter! Richard told us about how he got his leg injury and his inspirational story from leg amputation to winning gold at the Invictus Games. He shared the moto that he lives his life by – “aim high always”, which inspired us all to try to do the same!

Richard led the children in a sports circuit which they all joined in enthusiastically, the whole school aimed high and did amazingly! Thanks to all families who sponsored the children to complete the sports circuit to raise money for sports equipment for our school.

Swallows enjoyed a lovely day out in London yesterday! They visited the British Museum and looked at sculptures from the Parthenon and a selection of Ancient Greek pottery. In the evening, they watched a fantastic West End production of Oliver. After having put on a school production of this story two years ago, it was lovely to see it professionally staged and to remember all of the songs again!

We celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday by dressing up as our favourite animals! We were lucky enough to have a visit from Emma from Suffolk Wildlife Trust who taught us lots about the wildlife in our school. We planted wildflowers, studied mini beasts and learnt all about honey bees. We enjoyed the live celebration assembly and found out lots about Sir David’s life and his contribution to conservation.

All of the children walked an amazing 5.6 miles to complete our whole school sponsored walk. The children did so well and raised a fantastic £2428 so far which we will spend on new play equipment for the school! We would like to say a big thank you to the Porter family for hosting the walk at their farm and to Tuckwells for letting us use their gator which enabled all the children to take part. Well done everyone!

Robins had a wonderful time at the Science Centre in Cambridge last week!

They took part in an exciting workshop led by the staff all about their five senses, and had a fantastic time exploring everything the centre had to offer. The children loved investigating, discovering, and working together as a team.

The staff commented on how well behaved they were and we are all very proud of them!
