Makaton Monday - Colours 🌈
Colours can be an important feature when we’re giving something context and meaning.
Imagine a selection of pens and not knowing which to write with, or being asked to put on a coat but not knowing which one is yours.
Being able to sign colours can be helpful when a child needs additional meaning or description in order to understand or follow an instruction 🎨
Today’s signs:
🖤 black - make a fist over your cheek and flick it backwards towards your ear twice.
❤️ red - with your index finger, follow the line of your lip.
🧡 orange - bring your dominant hand to the side of your mouth and pretend to squeeze an orange.
💛 yellow - finger spell a Y, using the index finger of your dominant hand for the bottom line.
🤍 white - pretend to pluck something off your top.
💚 green - palm facing upwards run your hand down your non dominant forearm, like you’re cutting grass.
💙 blue - trace the vein on the top of your non dom hand with your dominant index finger.
🤎 brown - your non dominant hand makes a loose fist and with your dominant hand trace a small circle on your wrist.
