We had so many fantastic submissions for naming our field in Nercwys and we’re so excited to finally reveal its name… Derw Hynafol! 🌳

We chose Derw Hynafol, meaning Ancient Oaks, in honour of the old native trees that have stood on this land for generations and still thrive today. Those oaks represent the heart of everything we do: roots that run deep, a respect for heritage, and a way of working that is grounded in tradition and place.

Choosing Derw Hynafol felt true to who we are and to the ground beneath our feet: a quiet promise to care for what has been passed down, and to pass it on in turn.🌿

We’re also incredibly lucky to be receiving 410 native trees from the Woodland Trust, which will be planted to create 100 metres of brand-new hedgerow at Derw Hynafol.

The new hedgerow will provide valuable habitat, shelter and food for birds, insects and other local wildlife, helping to increase biodiversity across the site! πŸ¦πŸ¦‹πŸŒ±

If you’d like to volunteer and be part of our tree-planting project, you can register your interest here:

Our Forge Ahead Heritage Craft programme got off to a great start last week with our first workshop in the traditional craft of Indian Block Printing. 🌿🎨

Our learners were able to explore traditional printing techniques and created their own unique designs on cards and tote bags, they also picked up ideas and techniques they can use to share the craft with others and help keep these traditional skills alive.

We can't wait to see what the rest of the Forge Ahead programme has in store! If you want to find out if you may be eligble to attend, head to our website here: www.traditionalskills.co.uk/trailblazer ✨
