Urban sketching at it’s best - these shopfronts and street scenes with uneven cobbles and relaxed outlines were achieved with watercolours, watercolour pencils and fine liner pens.
Our newcomers dived in to the world of watercolours with a monochrome misty mountain scene and mouthwatering lemons with using complimentary colours.

Striking contrast achieved between dark silhouettes and glowing moonlight with oil pastel’s.

Our students used blending sticks to create smooth transition of oil pastels and paper masking techniques to achieve crisp edges to the moon and trees.

First week of Pastels this term, creating snowy scenes

Storybook inspired winter scenes with calm countryside landscapes, cottages and trees.

Sketching faces and figures drawing :

Our newcomers learnt the techniques of proportions and dimensions of drawing faces and figures just like how Leonardo Da Vinci did them.

Our returners used these methods and more in creating these expressive tonal portraits highlighting texture, contrast and shades using charcoal.

Our new starters learnt all about one point perspective made famous by none other than Van Gogh himself and then later mastered the grid method to enlarge a picture of a horse.

Keeping to the same theme of perspective and proportion, our seasoned returners followed L S Lowry style of painting to create these Lovely little figures using charcoal and chalk. Wonderful work as always.

What a joy to be back in class to see all the familiar faces who have become part of our closely knit family. It was lovely catching up with all of you after 4 long weeks.

Huge welcome to all the newcomers to the Autumn term.

Our seasoned artists drew these wonderful doll house style cross sections with sepia fine liner pens.

Our freshers challenged themselves with drawing upside down cockerel and ellipses on teacups.

Our end of Summer Term Art Exhibition was a huge success!

A collection of amazing artwork on display was enjoyed by friends, family and fellow students.

Lots of hard work, frustration, teary eyes, heaps of unfinished art thrown in the bins and being far too critical on themselves, have finally paid off to have these incredible pieces of art to exhibit.

We are so proud of all of our artists! Thank you to everyone who joined us this summer, as well as a massive thank you to Nigel for your incredible tutoring and witty humour.

We look forward to welcoming you on the 3rd of September for our Autumn term.
