I’ve heard a rumble that KCC are changing their test supplier from GL Assessments to Quest in 2027.
Don’t panic - I will keep an eye out for changes and let you know.

At the moment - the priorities remain the same; strong Year 5 problem solving and arithmetic maths skills, reading comprehension and inference, perseverance and resilience to complete and piece of work.

Some days, “What was good about today?” can feel like a big question.

The school run was rushed. Someone was upset at bedtime. Dinner was a battle. You’re tired too.

But gratitude doesn’t have to mean pretending everything is perfect. It can be noticing one small thing that helped: a warm drink, a funny moment, a kind friend, clean sheets, a pet waiting at the door.

For children and teenagers, this simple habit can make space to talk without pressure. A question like “What made you smile today?” often gets a more honest answer than “How was your day?”

Try asking one small gratitude question at the end of the day this October. No long conversations needed. Just a pause, a listen, and a reminder that hard days can still hold something good.
