I am a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, although guitar is my main instrument. I have a passion for teaching and learning and enjoy a variety of creative pursuits. I am first and foremost a teacher and I enjoy making a positive difference to people's lives through learning and enjoying playing music. My experience in teaching and education
I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE, QTS and an
up-to-date DBS certificate* and over 20 years' teaching experience; working with students aged from 7 to 18 years in a range of mainstream curriculum, pastoral leadership positions and in alternative education settings. I am a registered teacher with The RSL (Rock School) RSL - Gaz Chatt and am currently preparing students for their exams. I have taught musical instrument tuition for many years and relish the challenge of helping musicians no matter what their ability or age to achieve their ambitions. My Approach
I believe in offering an individualised service, tailored to the customers’ needs and acknowledging their personal music tastes and ambitions. I can provide clients with complete control over the songs and styles that they wish to learn and use this as the vehicle to deliver instrument techniques and ensure progress. From KPOP to Classic Rock, any musical style and any song can be used to teach something new. As an experienced teacher, I know how to motivate and engage learners who may usually find learning a challenge and use a variety of ways to help others love music and playing music as much as I do. Working with other musicians
I have been a performing musician in one form or another since high school. I have been lucky enough to have played various instruments live - from lead electric guitar, acoustic guitar to tin whistle and the bodhran - in folk groups such as The Skinner’s Rats , rock covers bands like First Refusal and as part of a singer / songwriter duo called Word of Mouth. Whilst at University in York, I was part of a successful Indie band Brewd who played gigs at the renowned independent music venue Fibbers in York, in our own right and as a support act for The Levellers. My gigging bug originates from playing regularly at The Tunbridge Wells Forum at Sixth Form in Kent where our band Luster was fortunate enough to feature in the prestigious Battle of The Bands Final. I have recently played solo at events in Devon and am currently looking to form or join a duo or band.
