Huge congratulations to Walton Academy students on winning 1st place for their Soil Science Project at the Lincolnshire Show!

Students visited Chappell Farm where farmer Colin Chappell and LEAF Education Specialists helped students explore soil health through soil analysis and wormery-building, inspiring a deeper understanding of sustainable farming.

Sustainable You(th) Challenge participants supported this year’s Open Farm Sunday celebrating 20 years of the event.

Students visited events to learned how food is sustainably produced in the UK.

“Sustainability is not only about protecting nature but also about supporting local businesses. Seeing produce from a local butcher showed me how buying local food can reduce food miles, support local farmers, and strengthen the local economy.”

Sustainable You(th) Challenge: Growing a Better Future

Bringing together passionate 15–18-year-olds to explore solutions to some of the world’s most urgent environmental challenges.

So far, students have:
- Explored sustainable farming through hands-on IFM workshops at Harper Adams University
- Learned how food is sustainably produced in the UK through Open Farm Sunday

Next up: a residential weekend at Harper Adams University, where participants will meet farmers and industry experts to discover more about sustainable farming and the food supply chain.
