Yesterday, the UK’s first female Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, cried in Parliament.

Some saw weakness. I saw leadership.

As many of you know I am very blessed to have set up home in beautiful Turkey 🇹🇷, however the events of Monday in my adopted homeland have had a massive influence on me.

The Turks are a very community based people and no matter what happens in any part of the country, they all feel it and it affects them as a nation.

The earthquakes which have devastated the Kahramanmaraş region killing so many citizens indiscriminately have brought the whole of Turkey to its knees emotionally and I feel the pain of my Turkish friends. Fortunately Dalyan, where I live, is 1000 km from the affected area but that doesn’t detract from my shock and sorrow.
