In English, Hawthorn Class have begun exploring the story Billy’s Bucket, and it has already sparked so much imagination and excitement. The children have been retelling the story in their own words and thinking creatively about all the sea creatures Billy might discover inside his magical bucket.
🎤🎶We did it! 🎶🎤
St Peter's took part in the Singing Challenge for 2026 in collaboration with the Music Hub and Oldham Community Radio this week. We sang along with up to 1000 other schools to our new favourite song "Go to the Park".
Many thanks to all those families who accessed the song from home to help our pupils prepare. Your support was much appreciated as always! 🎶

Children of all ages enjoyed a fantastic day learning new cricket skills with John from Lancashire Cricket Coaches Association.
It was wonderful to see them throwing themselves into each activity — discovering brand‑new skills, strengthening existing ones, and for some, trying a sport they haven’t had much experience with before.
Their enthusiasm and determination shone throughout the session, and it was lovely watching their confidence grow. 🏏

Even though Sports Day had to be cancelled after last night’s heavy downpour, the children still enjoyed a lovely surprise this afternoon. The ice cream van arrived as planned, bringing a delicious summertime treat for all our children and staff. It was the perfect way to lift everyone’s spirits and bring a little sunshine back into the day.
A big thank‑you to Mrs Clanford for organising this thoughtful treat — it was very much appreciated.

We were kindly invited to Darwen Library Theatre to take part in the Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Literature Festival. Our Year 3 and Year 4 children had a fantastic time watching author Dommy B perform poetry from his book The Dinosaurs Are Back!
The children were completely captivated by his energy and storytelling, and a few were even selected to join him on stage — bravely helping to perform in front of an audience.
