π¨ Good news for the fishing industry!
Funding for voluntary training is now easier to access. β
If you've been thinking about taking the next step in your fishing career, now is the time.
The 24-month fishing experience requirement has been reduced to just 6 months, making it easier for eligible fishermen to access funding for voluntary training and progress towards industry qualifications.
At South Devon College Marine Academy, we're proud to support our local fishing community with training that helps develop skills, improve safety and create progression opportunities within the industry.
Funding may be available for courses including:
Bridge Watchkeeping (2-day and 5-day)
Mandatory Seafish Safety Training
Skipper progression pathways
Other eligible Seafish-funded training courses.
Before applying, make sure:
β
You have completed all five mandatory Seafish safety courses.
β
Your training is recorded on the Seafish Training Database.
β
Any non-Seafish qualifications can be evidenced.
π Based in the heart of one of the UK's busiest fishing communities, we're here to help fishermen, skippers and employers navigate the funding process and find the right training route.
Invest in yourself. Safer today. Stronger tomorrow.
