This afternoon we all shared some quality time together testing out our new sunglasses from Mrs T. We think we might be "too cool for school"😏

Also a HUGE thank you to everyone for being part of the Leavers' assembly today, for supporting the school pupils and staff throughout the years and for all the lovely gifts that you have given. We very much appreciate you all and we will all take a little bit of "Team Kingswear" wherever we go next on our journeys... 🥰🥰🥰

Today we said goodbye to our fabulous Year 6 pupils. We were joined by family and local representatives to celebrate together. Dartmouth Rotary very kindly presented the children with a "book for life" each - a book that they will treasure forever. Rev. Claire from Kingswear Church, Devon also gave a beautiful speech to inspire us throughout the next part of our journeys.
This year, the leavers' hoodies were designed by the very talented NIck from Jack Speak, a nautical clothing retailer in Dartmouth. The children were also given gifts by staff and Mrs Tierney thought we needed some new sunglasses because "our futures are so bright that we've got to wear shades!"

It couldn't have been more wet and windy but that didn't stop Year 6 enjoying their day out last week at Woodlands to celebrate the end of a great year together. From the Terror Tower to water slides, the rain didn't dampen our Kingswear spirits! Mrs O wasn't brave enough for the Pirate Ship, however, but Year 6 and Mr Hanauer had a thoroughly good time riding the storm. A big thank you to Friends of Kingswear Primary School for making this happen.

Goodrington Sands was the destination for Kingswear Primary School today. As the school year nears its end, we spent the day at the beach and enjoyed the fresh air and views of the steam train and Torbay. Contending with mixed weather conditions, we persevered through the rain and then took delight in the wonderful sunshine, flying a kite, rock pooling and creating sand castles. A great day out was had by all!

It's not every day you get to see a snake or an armadillo up close - or even tickle one on the head! The children and staff were treated to an animal experience with Animal Encounters with Chris Johnson and had a brilliant afternoon. Herbie the armadillo was amazing us with his speed around the pen and fondness for having his head stroked, whilst we also learnt about the habits and diets of snakes, blue tongued skinks and tenrecs. Did you know that the tenrec is distantly related to an elephant? Definitely not in size though!
We'd like to say a big thank you to Chris and his delightful animal friends and for the Friends of Kingswear Primary School for making this possible.

The children who attended Archaeology Club were able to show their finds to their parents and carers at pick up tonight. With everything suitably laid out on the finds table, there was surprise and interest as to what had been found on the dig site over the recent weeks. A big "thank you" to Charlotte for letting us use her garden and inspiring us to "carry on digging."

The focus today at Forest School was building a shelter. Last week we made small shelters for fairies and insects but this week, we scaled it up to creating practical human shelters, with the ultimate test... a bucket of water thrown over the shelter to see if it would leak in the rain! Thankfully everyone succeeded in their den building and remained dry. 😀

Week 3 of Archaeology Club brought us back to school to clean and identify the finds from the dig site. The smaller items were collected in plastic bags to keep them protected and gently washed or brushed to examine them for further details. Using techniques like rubbing and the internet, we managed to identify an aqua, medicine bottle, dating to the Victorian period from Stockport, a porcelain section of a doll's head - with ear - and a willow pattern serving dish! Our next job is to display the items on our "Finds Table" for all to see...
