Keys We specialise in tailored one-to-one tuition and regularly present students for ABRSM examinations. Lead tutor Michael is a lifelong Dartford resident.

Specialist piano and music theory tuition by Michael Pyne MA DipABRSM FISM and associate tutors Hayley Sherriff and Callum Domigan. Established in 2005, our modern and purpose built teaching studio is air conditioned with a separate waiting room and is professionally equipped with grand pianos and a comprehensive library of resources to hand. To date our students have achieved around 350 exam passes at grades 1 to 8 and we have recently started training candidates for the new ARSM diploma. All ages of student are welcome and we cater for beginners and returners. He was primarily taught piano by John Lobb LRAM (himself a student of Louis Kentner, Harriet Cohen, Franz Reizenstein, York Bowen and Adeline de Lara). Michael graduated from Colchester Institute's Centre for Music and Performing Arts with a Masters degree in Music having studied keyboard instruments with Virginia Black, Leslie Young and Ian Ray and composition with Alan Bullard and Professor William Tamblyn. Michael also holds a piano teaching diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music with whom he now works as a Honorary Local Representative. Michael is a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, a Managing Partner of Rainbow Music Tuition at Barleylands Farm in Essex and the Key Stage 2 Music Specialist for Wentworth Academy in Dartford.

Mariam Batsashvili playing at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Saturday. A virtuosic programme of Bach, Liszt and Thalberg transcriptions. The encore was Chopin’s posthumous Nocturne in C # minor that past Keys student Amy played to perfection for Young Pianists and Grade 7.

Also, photos of ‘Playing with Fire: An Immersive Odyssey with Yuja Wang’ at the Royal Festival Hall. This was a VR experience accompanied by a self playing Steinway Spirio piano that was programmed by Yuja Wang. At only £9.50 a ticket I strongly recommend this experience to you all. It was fantastic!

A lovely video by Keys students Yoyo performing Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem ‘The Moon’ 🌙 and Chee-Hwa Tan’s piano 🎹 piece that was inspired by the poem.

Yoyo will be performing this at next Saturday’s (7th February 2026, 6:30pm) Young Pianists Concert. Please come along, enjoy and support Yoyo and many other inspirational Young Pianists.

The concert takes place at Christ Church, Cross Road, Dartford, DA1 3ET. Adult admission is £10 each and those under the age of 18 are £5 each payable by card or cash the door. Refreshments included.
