The Chapel Nursery

At the Chapel Nursery we pride ourselves on our diversity within our team, being a diverse nursery ensures that we understand parents, children and families ethnic backgrounds, culture and celebrations.

We include this as part of our nursery to provide equality and meet our cultural capital something our regulator Ofsted looks for in our nursery.

We will be posting each day a team member and celebrating our cultural diversity.

Healthy Eating!
This week with our preschoolers they have been focusing on healthy eating. In EYFS, children can learn about healthy choices by exploring, tasting and talking about different fruits and vegetables. In this activity we looked at various fruits and vegetables and spoke and discussed how they are healthy. Working on our problem solving we took it further by colour coordinating the different foods into the correct colour. Talking about healthy eating in the early years helps children understand why making healthy food choices is important. These conversations also help children develop positive attitudes towards healthy food from an early age.

This August we have been focusing on our book of the month which is Handa's surprise in our butterflies room.
We have explored different themes such as healthy eating,to implement this in the children's learning we have had a variety of activities such as sorting the foods into different sections for healthy and not healthy. We also had a tea party where the children were able to speak about healthy eating choices with their teachers.
We have also been decorating our board by creating the tangerine tree, basket and the fruits from the story.
The children also developed their literacy skills as we practiced their pencil grip and spelling as they traced over the letters of each fruit.
