Small Steps for Safety Campaign Aims to Prevent Childhood Injuries Across County Durham and Darlington :: County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust A new “Small Steps for Safety” campaign is launching today across County Durham and Darlington during Child Safety Week (1–7 June 2026), aiming to help families reduce preventable injuries in young children.

Hopetown Darlington look to have some great things planned 👌🏻

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Tim, a member of The Northern Kite Group to our pre-school. 🪁

His visit followed the children's growing interest in designing and making their own kites.

Tim shared videos of kite-flying events he has participated in, which the children found fascinating.

They thoroughly enjoyed seeing the wide variety of kites and learning more about this exciting hobby.

The children were especially excited when Tim brought along a selection of kites for us to fly both indoors and outdoors.

We are incredibly grateful for his generous donation of these kites to our pre-school, which will allow the children to continue exploring and enjoying kite flying.

As you can see, everyone had a wonderful time, and we can't wait to continue our kite adventures!

A huge thank you to Tim for taking the time to visit us and inspire the children. ❤️🪁

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Robin Blair 🕊️

For over 70 years, Robin has been a beloved greengrocer at Darlington Market, proudly continuing the incredible legacy of his 150-year-old family business, JJ Blair & Sons

As a mark of respect, the indoor market hall will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday 7th July. Please note that the surrounding businesses outside the market hall will be open and trading as usual.

Our deepest condolences go out to his friends, family, and the countless customers he has served over the decades. Robin was truly one of the most gentle and friendly faces to grace our town, and his warm presence will be deeply missed by us all.

Rest in peace Robin. 💚
