In Maths, Y2 explored flexible partitioning. The children showed great resilience and perseverance as they worked with numbers in different ways. This is not an easy concept to master.

The children were given a number, for example 32, and challenged to partition it in as many different ways as possible. They explored different combinations, such as 30 + 2, 20 + 12 and 10 + 22 developing their understanding that numbers can be broken down and recombined in different ways while still representing the same whole.

In Reception, the children made food for Fairies. They used their imaginations and created a great range of food. Lots of communication taking place and children working together.
During this time we had children snapping sticks to be chips, tearing leaves to be food on a pizza. This will help to develop the children's fine motor development. Moving and pushing the big logs strengthens their core, shoulders and arms. All this helps their development for things like holding a pencil correctly and writing.

Year 2, investigated different materials to find out which would be suitable for building a bridge to help the Gruffalo get from one side of the river to the other. They explored both bendy and rigid materials and thought carefully about which materials would make a strong and sturdy bridge.
