🦆 A little update from our feathered friends…

We’re so happy to say that all of our ducklings have now found their forever homes! ❤️
They’ve grown so much over the last few weeks and have developed the funniest little personalities. It’s been such a joy watching them hatch, grow and explore the world around them.
While we’re definitely sad to see them all leave us, it’s so reassuring to know they’ve each gone to loving homes where they’ll be well cared for. We’re especially grateful that their new families have promised to keep us updated as they grow. We can’t wait to see how they get on!

What a year it’s been at SKAPE! 💙

As we come to the end of another school year, we’re feeling incredibly proud of every single one of our young people and everything they’ve achieved. This year, over half of our students will be transitioning either back into mainstream school or on to specialist provision. That is something we’re especially proud of. Watching children rebuild their confidence, make progress and take those next steps is exactly why we do what we do.
As always, it’s been an emotional week. Saying goodbye is never easy (yes, there have definitely been a few tears!), but seeing how far our students have come makes every challenge worthwhile ❤️.
To all of our students-thank you for making us laugh, keeping us on our toes and letting us be part of your journey. We couldn’t be prouder of you and wish you all the happiness and success in the future.
A huge thank you as well to all of our parents, carers and schools for your continued support, and for the incredibly thoughtful cards and gifts. Your kindness means so much to us.

We’re excited to announce that our Little Aprons Cookery Club summer holiday sessions are now open for booking!

📍 Fishburn Community Centre (Youth Centre at the back)
🕥 10:30am – 1:30pm
👧 Suitable for ages 4+
👩‍🎓 Sessions taught by qualified teachers
🍪 Every child will make TWO delicious products to take home
🥣 All ingredients provided
🥤 Snacks and drinks included
🥪 Children will need to bring a packed lunch

💷 £25 per child
✅ Payment is required to secure your child’s place

📅 Available dates:
• Tuesday 21st July
• Friday 7th August
• Friday 21st August

Parents do not need to stay during the session, so you can enjoy a few hours to yourself while the children have fun cooking, creating and learning new skills!

👦👧 Depending on uptake, we will also be running a separate teen session.

🍳👩‍🍳 TEEN COOKERY SESSIONS 👨‍🍳🍰

Our Little Aprons Cookery Club Teen Sessions are now open for booking!

Designed specifically for older children and teenagers, these sessions offer a more advanced cooking experience where participants will develop their confidence, independence and kitchen skills while creating delicious dishes from scratch.

💷 £25 per session

✨ What to expect:
🍽️ More complex recipes and techniques
🔪 Students will prepare and cook everything themselves with guidance from qualified teachers
🥘 Make and take home two delicious products
🥣 All ingredients provided
🥤 Drinks and snacks included
🥪 Packed lunch optional

Our sessions are a great opportunity for teens to learn valuable life skills, try new foods, build confidence in the kitchen and have fun in a relaxed, friendly environment.

We know this heat is a lot for everyone at the moment! 🥵

The good news is that SKAPE is fully air conditioned, so our young people can learn in comfort. We also have a drinks fridge that they can access throughout the day to stay hydrated, and we’ll be keeping the ice pops coming too! 🍦💧

We’ll continue to do everything we can to keep everyone as cool and comfortable as possible while they’re with us.

And before anyone asks… parents, unfortunately you can’t stay all day enjoying the air conditioning! 🤣😆

🦆 Ever wonder what your fluffy little duckling might look like all grown up?
Here’s a fun guide to what our ducklings may grow into! While we can’t guarantee breeds with 100% certainty at this stage, this chart gives you a great idea of the beautiful adults they could become.

✨ Our current possibilities include:
🤍 Yellow Duckling: Could be an Aylesbury… or if it doesn’t develop Aylesbury characteristics, it may be a Cherry Valley. Time will tell!
🤎 Brown Striped or Chocolate Duckling: Likely a Silver Appleyard.
🖤 Black Duckling with a White Bib: Black Swedish.
🖤 Solid Black Duckling (No Bib): Our gorgeous Cayuga—our Limited Edition ducklings! Their stunning green iridescent feathers in the sunshine make them absolute showstoppers.

One of the best parts of raising ducklings is watching their personalities and beautiful adult feathers develop over time. Every stage is special!

💛 Which breed is your favourite? Are you team classic white, beautifully patterned, or our Limited Edition Cayuga? I think it’s fair to say most the children at SKAPE are team Aylesbury/ Cherry Valley!

Our ducklings are now 3 weeks old and growing so quickly! 💛🦆

They’ve been loving all the attention from the wonderful children at SKAPE during the day, who enjoy watching them explore and learn something new every day.

In the evenings, they’re busy running around the gardens, flapping their little wings, and having the best time splashing about in their paddling pool! It’s amazing to see how much they’ve grown in such a short time, and their personalities are really starting to shine.

We can’t wait to share more updates as they continue to grow and eventually leave for their new homes 🦆🐥🐣
