Another year of partnership with DEWALT 🤝

A huge thank you to DEWALT for continuing to support our students.

From sponsoring uniforms for students on our Pre Apprenticeship course to providing specialist tools for students across all year groups to use, their support helps us give students hands-on experience with the equipment and skills they’ll use in industry.

We’re proud to have DEWALT as a partner and look forward to another year of working together.

10 years of UTC South Durham 🎂

On Friday, we celebrated a decade of UTC South Durham with a special 10th Anniversary Lunch, bringing together staff, students, alumni, partners and guests to mark this incredible milestone.

We were honoured to welcome Lord Baker, founder of the University Technical College movement, who joined us to deliver a special speech and reflect on the vision behind UTCs and the impact they continue to have.

We were also delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Newton Aycliffe, Alan Strickland MP, John Cuthbert OBE Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Kate Ambrosi, CEO of Baker Dearing and Sir John Hall.

A particularly special part of the afternoon was hearing from our alumni. Rylie Sweeney shared her experience of studying at UTC South Durham, reflecting on her time with us and the journey she has taken since leaving.

A fantastic afternoon celebrating our journey, the people who have shaped it and the exciting future ahead.

It was great to welcome BBC Look North to UTC South Durham on A Level Results Day as we celebrated our students, our strong connections with industry and the opportunities our style of education can create.

Our career focused approach gives students the opportunity to develop technical skills, gain real workplace experience and build connections with employers – helping give them the edge when it comes to securing high-quality apprenticeships and starting their careers.

This year, our T Level students achieved a 100% pass rate, with 50% achieving a Distinction – the equivalent of three A grades at A Level.

Two of those students, Neve and Arnaud, have secured apprenticeships and are now taking their next steps into the world of work.

There are still a few places available to join UTC South Durham in September. If you’d like to find out more about studying with us, contact [email protected].
