Learning showcase ✨️

In class EBa, we have been using different tools to create marks and patterns with control. We also used leaves to create nature prints in Creativity 🍂

In Geography, we have been building the different geographical features in Whitby! We made the 199 steps, Whitby Abbey, some beach huts and a market! 🏖

🌟 Super learning! 🌟

In Geography this half term, TSc have been developing our understanding of the world around us and our place within it in our topic Journeys 🗺
We began by identifying that we live in a town and then located our town within England, recognising that England is part of the United Kingdom. We then explored where the United Kingdom is located within the wider world,📍 learning about and locating the seven continents and identifying our continent as Europe. 🌎
We have also explored the difference between human and physical geographical features. We identified and discussed features within our local area, as well as those found in the coastal town of Whitby 🌊

On Friday 9th October, we will be joining the nationwide celebration of World Mental Health Day.
As part of this, Marchbank Free School is taking part in the campaign to show support for young people’s mental health.
We would love all pupils to take part by wearing something yellow on the day.
This could be as simple as a pair of socks, a hair accessory, or a yellow t-shirt — whatever works best for your child.
The day is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness, show kindness, and remind each other that no one is alone when it comes to mental health.
Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to a bright and cheerful day together!

☕️Macmillan Coffee Afternoon ☕️
Thank you to everyone that joined us and donated to our Coffee Afternoon - we raised a fantastic £247.98.
We always love when we get the chance to invite families into school and celebrate our school community.

Learning showcase ✨️

Class BPa have been exploring states of matter in science 🧪 We have looked at the different molecules in each state and investigated how they change from one to the other using different temperatures 🔬 In our most recent experiment we created gas by mixing vinegar and bicarbonate of soda - it made our gloves inflate! 👏 In maths we have been working on our place value and have had lots of visuals and hands on activities to help support us.

☕️ Macmillan Coffee Afternoon ☕️
Just a reminder, our Macmillan Coffee Afternoon will be held this Friday 2pm - 3pm.
If you wish to make a donation of any cakes please can these be brought in with your child.

🌟 More fantastic learning 🌟

In class JJo, pupils have been working on place value, comparing and ordering numbers to 1,000,000! They've been using concrete examples to complete work, first with large amounts of Mexican pesos (to tie in with their Mexico topic in Geography) comparing and ordering who had the most in their wallets 🇲🇽

In class SHu, pupils were also learning how to put numbers in order from smallest to largest. In Geography, they started their topic of maps and globes 🌏 As a group they identified the human and physical features on a map 🗺
In PE, they've been working on rolling and catching skills 🏐

This week, Class SAN have been working incredibly hard! 🌟

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of place value through practical, hands-on activities using our exciting new maths resources!
In Geography, we have continued our Journey topic by exploring the continents of the world. We have been learning where the continents are located and discovering interesting facts about different places around the globe 🌍
During PSHE, we have been focusing on friendships through a range of fun mini-games and activities 🧡

We are incredibly proud of how hard everyone has worked this week and the kindness they have shown towards one another. Keep up the fantastic work, Class SAN! ⭐👏
