What a busy first week for MHu!

In Literacy, we enjoyed listening to our new book, Lost and Found, and can't wait to write our own adventure stories inspired by it 📖 In Science, we explored different materials, their properties, and ways they can be reused and repurposed. In Geography, we learned about physical and human-made features and enjoyed drawing examples of each, ready for our trip to the park next week! 🏘🏞

A fantastic start to the term! ⭐️

This morning some pupils participated in a ten pin bowling competition. All pupils represented themselves and Marchbank impeccably! They showed fantastic team work skills, taking turns and cheering for each other 🎳📣

Overall, we placed second and each left with a medal and certificate! 🥈 We are so proud of you! ⭐️

In class BPa we have been busy working on poetry writing ✍️. This week we have looked at the features we find in a poem as well as planning and writing our own poems. We have had great fun thinking of rhyming words, repetitive phrases and trying to include some rhythm.

Well done everyone! ⭐️

In class EBa, during our science lessons we have been designing our own forms of transport! They ranged from ufo’s to giant boats 🛸🛥 The children spent a lesson considering the properties of materials carefully and drawing up their plans, before creating their idea through junk modelling and art resources. They really enjoyed this proudly presented their projects to the rest of the class! ⭐️

This half term, TSc has focused its science learning on plants 🌱 To begin with, we identified different types of plants and flowers, using the outdoor environment to spot the variety growing in our school grounds 🔍🌻. We then looked at the different parts of a plant and a tree, and identified the function of each part in helping it stay alive. To extend our learning, we each became part of a plant and described in detail the role we played in keeping a plant healthy. Following this, we explored the life cycle of a plant and then used our knowledge to plan an investigation to test the best conditions for a plant to grow in! 🪴

Brilliant learning everyone ⭐️
