Dalbeattie High School is a small rural school which prides itself on its warm and friendly atmosphere. As the roll of the school is only around 400 pupils with 40 staff, a community spirit is quickly established. Everyone in the school is committed to ensuring that all our students achieve the high standards that they are capable of and, in the spirit of a Curriculum for Excellence, develop into

successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors. The school itself is situated close to the centre of Dalbeattie in one of the most attractive areas of the South of Scotland, designated a National Scenic area, close to the Solway. A location amidst farmland, with an outlook to the granite hills of the Stewartry beyond, provides a magnificent setting for the school.

Introducing Jack (S4) and Frazer (S5) who are our new Sportscotland Young Ambassadors for session 26/27.

Yesterday they attended a training session at The Bridge where they learned more about the role and met pupils from other schools who are taking on the role.

Over the coming year they will be aiming to promote sport, and motivate and inspire other young people to get involved in sport in a wide range of settings within the local community, including schools, clubs and community organisations.

A highlight from yesterday was meeting Hammy McMillan and his Olympic medals. Thank you to Amy from Stewartry Active Schools and Community Sport who will be working with Frazer and Jack as they build their plans for the year.

🎉CELEBRATING WIDER ACHIEVEMENT🎉

A huge well done to Rowan (S4), who took on an incredible challenge during July, cycling an impressive 306.2 miles across three weeks to raise money for Cancer Research UK. 🚴

Rowan’s determination and hard work helped him raise a fantastic £325, plus an additional £73.75 in Gift Aid — bringing the total value of his fundraising to almost £400!

🎉 Congratulations to former pupils Gabe Davidson and Seren Campbell for achieving their RCS Bronze Leaders Award from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Both music leaders this award last session through the music department, and have now been provided with very positive feedback and recognition of strong passes.
Unfortunately, our leaders were unable to attend the awards ceremony at RCS on Friday, but their achievements are very well deserved!
Well done, Gabe and Seren! 🎼🎵🎤

🎉CELEBRATING WIDER ACHIEVEMENT 🎉

Congratulations to Katherine (S6), who was recognised at a special afternoon tea hosted by Girlguiding Dumfries and Galloway earlier this year. ☕🍰

Katherine was presented with both her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and her Girlguiding Ranger Gold Award by County Commissioner, Libby Ong. 🥉🏅

Even more impressively, Katherine is the first Girlguide from Dumfries and Galloway to complete the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award
