This Restart a Heart Day, Torfaen Adult Community Learning is celebrating the learners across Torfaen who have taken the opportunity to develop practical first aid and lifesaving skills.

So far in 2026, we’ve delivered three Restart a Heart workshops, recording 35 learner attendances across the sessions. And our wider First Aid programme has continued to grow too.

Across nine Level 2 First Aid Essentials courses, ACL has supported 72 learner attendances, while our Paediatric First Aid course welcomed a further six learners.

Altogether, that brings us to an impressive 113 learner attendances across 13 First Aid and Restart a Heart learning opportunities in 2026.

And we’re not stopping there. More Restart a Heart workshops are being planned for the New Year, giving even more people the opportunity to learn these potentially lifesaving skills.

Whether you want to gain new skills for work, feel better prepared when caring for family and friends, or simply add valuable first aid knowledge to your skillset, why not make one of our upcoming courses your next learning opportunity?

🏆Want to learn from an award-winning tutor? Join Neetha's Wholesome Indian Cooking course and bring authentic, healthy Indian cuisine into your own kitchen.

🥘👏🏻 Brilliant Neetha! The founder of a Cwmbran-based Indian cookery school has been shortlisted for a national award celebrating the achievements of small businesses across the UK.

Neetha Krishna, the owner of Neetha's Kitchen , is a finalist in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year category at the UK Small Business Awards 2026.

She offers hands-on cookery workshops teaching traditional Indian recipes and techniques, with participants learning to prepare traditional starters, curries, breads and desserts.

A spokesperson for the awards said: “The standard of entries this year has been incredibly high. Each finalist has demonstrated an exceptional level of dedication and achievement, representing the very best of UK small businesses.”

The latest recognition adds to a successful year for the business, which was also shortlisted for Cookery School of the Year at the Food Awards Wales 2026 and in the Tourism and Hospitality category at the TMBG Business Awards 2026.

Neetha Krishna said: “Running my own cookery school has been a rewarding journey, and I'm passionate about sharing authentic Indian cooking through personalised, hands-on workshops.

"We are incredibly honoured and proud to be recognised as a finalist at The UK Small Business Awards.

“Winning Cookery School of the Year at The Food Awards Wales in 2025 was a very special milestone for me. To be recognised as a finalist in three awards this year is truly encouraging.

“Neetha’s Kitchen was born from my passion for authentic Indian cooking and my desire to share it with others. Running a small business takes dedication and perseverance, and these achievements motivate me to continue growing my cookery school and sharing the joy of Indian cooking with more people. I am proud to represent Cwmbran and grateful for this recognition.”

The UK Small Business Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 19 December 2026 in Birmingham.
