New proposed government legislation threatens the future of our camps
There is a consultaiton in progress entitled:
"Permitted development rights: supporting temporary recreational campsites, renewable energy and film-making consultation"
the first section of which ('supporting temporary campsites') proposes to scrap the present 28-day rule regarding how long camping is permitted on land with no camping license under which we presently operate, and replace it with a 60 day permit. This would be good news if it were not for the limitations that come with it: It is proposed that all such campsites will be restricted to a maximum of 30 tents, and no camping vehicles such as caravans or camper vans will be permitted. Clearly, camps such as Phoenix could no longer function within these proposed limitations, so we must do all we can to raise our concerns about this scheme.

What can we do?
The consultation period lasts until 25th April (sorry it's such short notice but this hasn't been on national news and we've only just found out about it this week) so it's still possible to weigh in by completing the survey - it doesn't take long and you can skip the sections on solar panels and filming rights if you don't want to comment on them.

Additionally you can write to your MP, pointing out that the limitations on tent numbers means that creative gatherings like ours will no longer be possible, and also that the ban on camping vehicles in effect

I hope everyone who is part of the Phoenix family is having a wonderful day today.

We have had the shortest day now and the days will start getting longer and we will soon be back on the field together with the sound of children playing ringing through the valley 😀
