What a busy day! World Book Day, Dragons Den, community cafe and Glass Collection … but we did it! Well done to our amazing pupils, supportive parents and very hardworking team.
Our business ideas: Circular Economy Cabin and Save Haven Bird feeders made by ‘Woodwork Hard’ were highly praised by the Dragons. Circular Economy Cabin won the Pupils’ Choice Award! Keep an eye out for the Cabin’s launch next term where you will be able to get pet treats, swap toys and costumes and purchase one of our many glass themed items and ‘Safe Haven’ bird feeders.
Thank you to parents and wider community for supporting our World Book Day themed Community Cafe this afternoon. It was great to see young and old having a good ‘blether about books’.

Dairsie Does the Winter Olympics! ❄️🏅
We had such a fun and energetic PE session as our pupils took part in their very own Winter Olympics! Pupils were split into teams and proudly represented different countries throughout the afternoon.
From speedy bobsled relays to exciting hockey matches and lively warm-up games, everyone showed fantastic teamwork, determination and sportsmanship.
Here’s just a few action shots! 📸

We were delighted to welcome Dominic from the Fife Eden Estuary during our outdoor learning session this week! 🐦 🪱
Pupils explored how different sized beaks affect what birds are able to catch, taking part in a hands-on investigation to see which “beaks” worked best for different foods. We also learned to identify a range of local birds and their features.
To finish, everyone enjoyed an active predator-and-prey game, with some pupils acting as hungry birds and others as wriggly worms!
A fantastic morning of science, teamwork and outdoor learning - thank you to the Fife Eden Estuary for visiting us!

Dairsie Primary School is celebrating a series of significant national and regional achievements, reflecting the school’s strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, pupil leadership and high-quality learning experiences.
Most recently, Shannon Smith (pictured right), a teacher at Dairsie Primary School, has been shortlisted for a Primary Science Teacher Award by the Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT).
The award recognises excellence in primary science teaching across the UK.
As part of the final stage, PSTT assessors will visit the school to observe a science lesson and explore the wider impact of Shannon’s work. Being shortlisted alone is regarded as a major national professional achievement.
In further positive news, Headteacher Sarah Donald (pictured left) has also been selected to take part in the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme, held at Westminster this week.
The highly competitive programme brings together 65 teachers from across the UK to deepen their understanding of democracy and Parliament.
Participants will observe debates in the House of Commons and House of Lords and work closely with Parliament’s Education and Engagement Team, with learning shared back in school to strengthen pupil voice, leadership and active citizenship.
These achievements build on Dairsie Primary School’s recent national successes.

🎄💛 Our pupils were proud to gift Christmas presents to Tarvit Ward in Cupar. One of the wonderful charge nurses kindly collected the donations on their behalf. We used the money raised from our glass collection to purchase these gifts, and we hope they bring a little festive cheer to the patients. 🎁✨

Our migration and hibernation collaborative artwork display is coming along beautifully! ❄️🐻 All linked to our current school topic - ‘The Wild Robot’.
Next, we’ll be adding some interesting facts to bring our learning to life.
Pupils had the choice to create colourful patterned turtles exploring colour, pattern, and shape. They could also choose to create silhouette bears using shading techniques, or geese drawn from a perspective view, enhanced with charcoal shading
