One of our favourite MATP activities is bowling, and there is always plenty of excitement when a bowling tournament gets underway!
The Motor Activity Training Programme (MATP) is designed for people with profound and multiple disabilities and complex support needs. It focuses on each person’s abilities, creating meaningful opportunities to develop and demonstrate motor skills and take part in sport and physical activity.
At Craighalbert, we adapt MATP activities around each pupil’s individual movement, communication, positioning and support needs so everyone has a meaningful way to participate.
Bowling is a brilliant example. It brings together movement, choice, anticipation, turn taking and plenty of friendly competition, while giving our pupils the opportunity to experience the fun and achievement of taking part in sport.
