Last week, Craighalbert Parent Partnership hosted a relaxing Sound Bath session for parents and carers, delivered by Deborah from Flourish with Deborah.

The session provided an opportunity for parents and carers to take some time for themselves, unwind and focus on their own wellbeing in a calm and welcoming environment.

Through the Parent Partnership, families have access to a wide range of activities, events and wellbeing opportunities, recognising the important role that parents and carers play in supporting their children every day.

A huge thank you to Deborah for delivering such a wonderful session and to everyone who came along.

As part of our end of term celebrations, we came together for a very special leavers' party to say farewell to our two graduating seniors in true Craighalbert style.

The day was filled with fun, laughter and activities inspired by our graduates' interests and personalities. From paint bombs, confetti cannons and switch blowers to guitar sessions and plenty of music, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We even had a special appearance from Ezra !

It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils and staff to celebrate together, create lasting memories and wish our leavers all the very best as they begin their next chapter.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special.

HMIE recognised that staff at Craighalbert have “high expectations of children and young people”.

Inspectors noted that staff work together effectively to meet children's communication, learning, health and care needs while respecting their rights and supporting them to achieve their potential.

We believe every child deserves opportunities to learn, participate, achieve and be heard.

We were delighted to welcome families and friends to Craighalbert for our Celebration of Achievement and Graduation Event.

It was a truly special day as we came together to recognise and celebrate everything our children and young people have achieved throughout the year.

At Craighalbert, we are ambitious for every child and young person, and each day they show us what is possible when they are given the right support, opportunities and encouragement to thrive.

The event also marked an important milestone for two of our senior pupils as they graduated from Craighalbert and prepare to move on to adult services. It has been a privilege to watch them grow and develop during their time with us, and while they will be greatly missed, we are excited to see what the future holds for them and to hear about their next adventures.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate. Your support helped make the day so memorable and reminded us of the incredible community that surrounds our children and young people.

Congratulations to all of our pupils on their achievements. We are so proud of every one of you.

Thank you for everything you do, from the everyday moments to the extraordinary things that often go unseen.

We hope you have a wonderful day!

Members of the Craighalbert team recently attended the CALL Scotland ASL Technology Conference, where they engaged with a range of thought-provoking sessions focused on assistive technology, accessibility and inclusive practice.

The event provided valuable opportunities to explore emerging developments, reflect on approaches that support communication, participation and learning, and consider ways to further enhance person-centred practice across our service.

It was also an excellent opportunity to connect with colleagues, share ideas and learn from the experiences of others, helping us to continue developing inclusive, evidence-informed approaches that support children and young people to access, communicate and participate more fully.

“We are delighted to have received such a positive HMIE report which recognises the unique contribution and positive impact of Craighalbert for children with complex communication, learning, health and care needs in Scotland. The report clearly demonstrates the strengths of our current approaches and reflects the strong commitment of our team to work together to support children and young people to thrive and achieve.” Heather Gray, Craighalbert CEO

Today we are delighted to welcome families to Craighalbert for a Parent Carer Wellbeing Day.

Organised by our Parent Partnership, this special event has been made possible through the support of Yoga-Bility and PAMIS, who are providing relaxing yoga and massage sessions for parents and carers.

Caring for a child with complex needs can be rewarding, but it can also be demanding. Opportunities like this give parents and carers valuable time to focus on their own wellbeing, connect with others who understand their experiences and take a well deserved moment to recharge.

These sessions can be a real lifeline for families, and we are incredibly grateful to Yoga-Bility and PAMIS for provide this wonderful opportunity.

As part of Volunteers' Week, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to our incredible Board of Trustees.

Our Trustees generously volunteer their time, expertise and experience to help guide the strategic direction of Craighalbert, ensure strong governance, and support us in delivering the very best outcomes for the children, young people and families we support.

While much of their work takes place behind the scenes, their commitment, leadership and dedication play a vital role.

We are fortunate to have a Board that is passionate about our mission, ambitious for the children and young people we support, and committed to helping Craighalbert continue to grow and thrive.

Thank you to each and every one of our Trustees for the difference you make.
