We are hiring an Early Years Practitioner

All candidates must have NNEC, NHC or SVQ Level 3 in Childcare

Job Role is Monday to Friday 38 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities

To work with the staff as a team providing a service appropriate to the needs of early years children and their families.

To be responsible for leaderships and guidance with the team for the implementation of the respectful care of young children while supporting both their parents and nursery staff.

To liaise with the Head of Service and work with staff as part of a team to ensure the smooth day to day running of the Birth – 2 years, 2 – 3 years and 3-5 years playrooms.

To assist in planning stimulation and challenging activities for children’s individual development needs.
Main Duties

To observe, record and assess the needs of individual children

To involve the team in our Improvement Priorities and collate evidence.

To promote good practice in the playroom and to be a good role model for staff.

To support work experience and college students in their placements

To liaise effectively with Head of Service and outside agencies
To participate as required in referral procedures.

To offer support and guidance to key worker to observe, record and assess children and identify difficulties.

To allow advice of specialist support staff to meet the needs of the child.

To offer support to parents.

To develop the home/school/community partnership and welcome and encourage parents in playroom.

To share assessment information with parents and advise of developments.

To participate in Parent Eventing and the Annual General Meeting
To be committed to continuous professional development activities as required.

To be involved in in-service training and meetings
To undertake any other related duties as designed by line management.

Report through line management if any conflict, problems or incidents occur within the service and to be aware of the whistle blowing policy.

To take responsibility for completion of children’s medical, accident/incident sheets ensuring all relevant information is clearly recorded.

To ensure all children within the nursery develop to their full potential by engaging them in the and supporting them in appropriate experiences and learning opportunities within the contact of local and national curriculum guidance and care standards and by using the Curriculum for Excellence Outcomes.

To promote a key work system and prepare children’s records and assessments carrying out focused observations contributing to their learning stories.

To liaise and support parents and other family members

To liaise with Local Authority and other professionals within the nursery

To attend and contribute to 4 weekly staff planning meetings

To promote the ethos of the service providing a caring environment in which each child feels secure, respected and valued in their own right and which promotes equality opportunities for all.

To prepare and maintain materials and equipment which are appropriate to the development of the children.

To observe and monitor the learning needs of each child and provide them with opportunities to develop skills and access experiences appropriate to their development needs.

To ensure health and safety, security standards and procedures are maintained in accordance with procedures e.g. fire drill and emergency evacuation plan.

To be aware of and adhere to Child Protection guidelines and procedures.

Children are able to access outdoor play area freely (free flow play) staff work on a rota basis to provide this.
