This week at preschool, we have been using our imagination in the pirate-themed tuff tray. The children enjoyed playing together, taking turns, talking with their friends, and they thoroughly enjoyed hunting for buried treasure in the sand.
At the creative table, the children created paper mâché planets, choosing which planet they wanted to make before painting it. We talked about Earth as the planet we live on and explored some of the other planets in our Solar System. The children also used their imaginations to become spacemen and aliens, creating their own exciting space adventures through imaginative play.
Book of the week was’Hey Duggee: The Pirate Badge’
Fun Fact: A day on Jupiter is less than 10 hours long—much shorter than a day on Earth! 🌍🪐

This week at pre school, the children explored ice painting while learning about colours and colour mixing, developing their creativity and understanding of how colours change. All children thoroughly enjoyed the activity and were engaged throughout.
The children enjoyed exploring the football-themed tuff tray, taking part in lots of imaginative play and conversations. They also designed their own football shirts, encouraging creativity and extending their interest in football.

⭐️Fun fact⭐️ The original World Cup trophy was stolen in 1966, but just one week later it was found by a dog called Pickles under a hedge in Beulah Hill, South Norwood, South London!

This week our children have been busy exploring, our small world has been a construction site, the children used large diggers, hard hats, and tools to create their own building projects. This type of role play supports communication and language skills as children talk about their ideas, physical development through handling tools and equipment.
Our tuff tray activity the children enjoyed counting the Unifix cubes,finding different quantities, and matching amounts. These hands-on experiences help develop early maths skills, including counting, number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and comparing quantities. By exploring numbers through play, children build confidence and a strong foundation for future mathematical learning. classrooms.

This week at preschool, the children used their imagination and problem-solving skills to build a variety of structures with Duplo. Our dentist-themed tuff tray and home corner were also a huge success! The children loved dressing up as dentists, brushing teeth and learning about the importance of keeping our smiles healthy 🦷 Through fun role play, they became more familiar with visiting the dentist and developed positive associations with this important part of living a healthy life. These activities supported communication and language skills, mathematical thinking and fine motor skills. Our book of the week was ‘Hey Duggee, The Tooth Brushing Badge’ by Lauren Holowaty and Sam Morrison. Fun Fact: The first toothbrushes weren’t made from plastic. They were made from twigs that people chewed on to help clean their teeth! 🌿

This week at preschool, we have been learning all about patterns in lots of different ways! The children have explored musical patterns, creative patterns, and patterns created using a variety of textures and surfaces.
We are incredibly proud of the progress the children are making with their letter formation. They have particularly enjoyed using different mark-making tools in our sand trays to practise their writing skills while creating their own patterns.
Our musical instrument tuff tray has been a huge hit this week! The children have loved experimenting with a range of instruments, discovering different sounds, and creating their own musical rhythms and patterns.
📚 Our book of the week has been ‘The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster’ by David Conway. The children have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the story, joining in with familiar nursery rhymes, and sharing their thoughts and ideas during our discussions.
🎶 Fun Fact of the Week: The world’s oldest known musical instrument is a prehistoric flute made from a vulture’s wing bone and is believed to be over 35,000 years old!
