This week at preschool, we have been learning about healthy eating. The children enjoyed mark making and painting pictures of different fruits and vegetables before tasting a variety of them. The children talked about the fruits they tried and described their textures as crunchy, soft, smooth, or juicy.
The children have also thoroughly enjoyed exploring our PAW Patrol tuff tray. They loved talking about their favourite characters, sharing ideas with their friends, and using their imaginations during play. This sparked lots of communication, social interaction, and turn-taking opportunities throughout the week.
Our book of the week was ‘Meg’s Veg’ by Helen Nicole which linked perfectly to our healthy eating theme and inspired conversations about fruits, vegetables, and growing food.
Fun Fact: Tomatoes, pumpkins, and cucumbers are actually fruits because they contain seeds!
We’ve had a fantastic week of learning, exploring, tasting, and talking together.

This week at preschool, we have been learning all about recycling! The children have shown a fantastic interest in sorting different materials into the correct recycling bins and enjoyed using our recycling activity to match objects to the right bin depending on what material they were made from. It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more aware of how we can help look after our environment. 🌍♻️
We have also been busy strengthening our fine motor skills at the threading table. The children enjoyed matching patterns, choosing colourful beads, and independently threading them onto string, helping to develop their hand-eye coordination and concentration skills.
During story time, we shared the beautiful book ‘We All Belong’ by Alex and Nathalie Goss. Together we talked about respect, individuality, and how we are all unique in our own special ways. The children explored similarities and differences between themselves and others, sharing conversations about their families, favourite things, and the people who are special to them. ❤️
⭐ Fun Fact: Did you know? Recycling just one plastic bottle can save enough energy to power a lightbulb for up to 6 hours

This week, we’ve been exploring emotions during circle time, with lots of lovely discussions about how we feel each day. The children shared ideas about what makes them feel happy, sad, or excited, helping to build their confidence in expressing themselves.
Following the children’s interests, we also enjoyed some fantastic superhero play in our tuff tray. The children had great fun naming characters and using their imaginations to role-play as superheroes, developing both language and social skills along the way.
At Tilly’s baby care station, the children have been practising self-care skills by washing the dolls. This sparked lots of meaningful conversations about why we need to bathe and helped the children learn to name different body parts in a fun, hands-on way.
Our book of the week was ‘There’s a Superhero In Your Book’ by Tom Fletcher.
🌟 Fun fact: Talking about emotions regularly helps young children build stronger friendships and develop important life skills like empathy and problem-solving!

It was a fantastic week in our setting last week. We closely followed the children’s interests, which have led to some lovely learning experiences. A big favourite was the story of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’, with the children enjoying retelling the story on the tuff tray using prompts, as well as getting creative by making their own beautiful caterpillar paintings.
We also saw a strong interest in farm life. The children have had great fun role-playing in our small world area and showed excellent turn-taking skills while playing the “Old MacDonald” lotto game—well done everyone! Our story of the week was ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle.
Fun fact 🐛: Did you know that a caterpillar can eat up to 27,000 times its body weight before it turns into a butterfly? No wonder our Hungry Caterpillar was always so busy eating!
