📚✨Happy World Book Day from all of us at Sanderstead Park Nursery!✨📚

Today we are celebrating the joy of stories, imagination and a love for reading. The children have had a wonderful time dressing up as their favourite characters, sharing their favourite books and exploring lots of magical stories together. 🌟

Reading with children helps spark their imagination, build language skills and create a lifelong love of books. Thank you to all our families for supporting World Book Day and helping make reading such a special part of our children’s lives. ❤️

Our wonderful nursery children have been busy learning all about Chinese New Year! 🏮🐉

They explored traditional stories shared by one of our parents Jennie, created beautiful lanterns and dragon crafts, practised mark-making, and even enjoyed tasting some delicious food.

We love celebrating different cultures and helping the children learn about the world around them through hands-on, creative experiences. What a fantastic way to welcome the Lunar New Year! 🎉✨

In Pre-school room for the month of January, we were diving into our favourite stories, like "The Smartest Giant in Town," "My Hair," "Monkey Puzzle," and "Whatever Next." We engaged in a range of exciting activities, including messy trays, painting self-portraits, solving face puzzles, tracing memorable story scenes, and decorating rockets and night skies. We've also embraced the rain, jumping in puddles with our friends, having fun with play dough to create different faces, and enjoying lots of imaginative role play, like hairdressers and box play. It's been a wonderful month of learning and creativity!

During the month of January, the children in Bumblebees room have enjoyed Storybooks. We explored a range of books from Stickman , The Gruffalo, and The Snail and the Whale, and the children's own interests where they brought their favourite books in from home. We explored the sand looking for dinosaurs, made a stickman out of lolly pop sticks, played in the snow and celebrated 100 years of Winnie the Pooh.

Yesterday, we had a wonderful time celebrating with the children, parents, grandparents, and staff during the Carols by Candlelight event.
It was lovely to hear everyone's singing voices, and the we enjoyed delicious mince pies and hot chocolate. The children had an absolute blast playing with the snow machine!
It was a lovely opportunity for all of us to come together and embrace the festive spirit.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us; we hope you had as much fun as we did!

In November the Caterpillars topic was 'nursery rhymes' so we have been enjoying sticking and painting on our twinkle stars, popping our bubbles whilst singing along to 'tiny turtle' and playing with our 'old McDonald' tray and animals.
We made our own 'insy winsy spiders' and enjoyed splashing in our '5 little ducks water tray'.

In fields of green the poppies grow,
a sign of love, a gentle show.
Fore brave and kind, who fought for us,
who left their lives in the fuss.

They lay in fields no longer here,
but we remember, year after year.
We wear the poppy, red and bright,
to honor them with all our might.
