π A Fantastic Day at The Kia Oval! π
On Monday, a group of our pupils enjoyed an exciting trip to the iconic Kia Oval, accompanied by Mr Averis, Mr Khan and Mr Calugay. The children had the opportunity to visit one of Englandβs most historic cricket grounds, home to countless memorable moments in the sportβs history.
Despite some rainy weather on the journey, spirits remained high throughout the day. Pupils explored the stadium, took part in fun batting, bowling and catching activities led by coaches from the Surrey Cricket Foundation, had their faces painted, and even collected autographs from Surrey players!
Once the weather cleared, everyone was able to watch part of Surrey CCCβs match against Hampshire. With over 100 schools in attendance, the atmosphere was incredible. The children cheered on Surrey as they defended their total and were lucky enough to witness two wickets during the first hour of play.
Most importantly, our pupils were a credit to John Wood School & Nursery, demonstrating excellent behaviour and representing our school values with pride throughout the day.
A huge thank you to Mr Averis and Mr Khan for generously volunteering their time to support the trip. Opportunities like this would not be possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of our staff.

π§οΈπΉ Year 6 Residential at Longridge Activity Centre π£ββοΈβοΈ
What an incredible few days our Year 6 pupils had at Longridge Activity Centre!
Despite torrential rain and dramatic thunderstorms at times, the children showed remarkable resilience, positivity and teamwork throughout the trip. From paddleboarding and archery to laser tag and Jacobβs Ladder, every child embraced new challenges with enthusiasm and courage.
The competitive spirit was in full swing as Team A and Team B went head-to-head in a range of activities, including raft-building challenges, canoe races and even chasing rubber ducks along the Thames! Laughter, friendship and unforgettable memories were made every step of the way.
We are so proud of the fearless, supportive and collaborative attitude shown by all of our Year 6 pupils. They were a credit to the school throughout the residential.
A huge thank you to the fantastic team at Longridge for keeping everyone safe and engaged, and a special thank you to Miss Daffu for her exceptional support and dedication throughout the trip.
