At Becca’s House, we believe healthy eating is not about perfection or describing foods as “good” or “bad.” It is about helping children enjoy a wide variety of nourishing everyday foods while understanding that treats can still be enjoyed occasionally and in suitable portions.

Our banana and cocoa brownies are a lovely example. They still feel like a chocolatey treat, but they are homemade using simple, affordable ingredients, with ripe bananas providing the sweetness instead of added sugar.

By cooking together, children learn where their food comes from, explore new tastes and textures, and discover that healthier choices can still be delicious and enjoyable.

We want children to develop a happy, relaxed and positive relationship with food—one built around balance, variety and enjoyment. 🌿

Dear Parents and Carers,

Healthy eating during the early years is incredibly important. A varied and balanced diet provides children with the energy and nutrients they need to grow, learn, play and develop. Introducing healthy choices from a young age also helps children build positive habits that can continue throughout their lives.

If your child brings a packed lunch to nursery, please ensure it follows our Healthy Eating Policy and does not contain nuts or foods containing nuts. All food must also be cut and prepared safely for your child’s age.

We are very happy to provide a healthy, balanced and nutritious lunch for every child. Our nursery meals are homemade wherever possible and contain minimal packaged food.

Thank you for helping us give every child the healthiest possible start. 🌿

🌱 Learning Through Baking

While you're baking, your child is developing so many important skills:

🧁 Measuring and counting ingredients
🍓 Exploring different textures, smells, and colours
💪 Strengthening little hands through mixing and pouring
🗣 Building communication by talking about each step
❤️ Growing independence by helping with simple jobs
⏳ Learning patience while waiting for the cake to bake

At Becca's House, we believe the simplest moments often create the biggest memories.

Learning Through Wonder. Growing Through Love. Rooted in Hygge.

We'd love to see your creations! Please share your photos with us on Monday or tag us if you bake along this weekend. Happy baking! 🍎🫐🧁

🌈 Cooking Club at Home – Rainbow Stuffed Peppers 🌈

Hello everyone!

This week's **Cooking Club** is all about making **Rainbow Stuffed Peppers** – a colourful, healthy and delicious snack or light lunch that children can help prepare from start to finish.

🛒 Ingredients

* 2–3 mini sweet peppers (or 1 large pepper cut into sections)
* 2–3 tablespoons of hummus, cream cheese or cottage cheese
* Sweetcorn
* Grated carrot
* Chopped cucumber
* Chopped cherry tomatoes
* Chopped chives or spring onion (optional)

*Feel free to swap or add any of your child's favourite vegetables!*

👩‍🍳 Method

1. Wash all the vegetables together.
2. Carefully cut the peppers in half (adults only) and remove the seeds.
3. Let your child spoon the hummus, cream cheese or cottage cheese into each pepper.
4. Encourage them to decorate each pepper with the colourful vegetables.
5. Enjoy straight away or pop them into the fridge for a refreshing snack.

🌟 How does this support your child?

Cooking together is about so much more than making food!

💚 **Healthy Eating** – Children become more willing to try new foods when they have helped to prepare them.

🧡 **Fine Motor Skills** – Scooping, sprinkling and filling the peppers strengthens the small muscles in their hands, supporting early writing skills.

💛 **Communication & Language** – Talk about the colours, textures, smells and tastes as you cook together.

💙 **Mathematics** – Count the vegetables, compare sizes and discuss "more" and "less" while filling the peppers.

💜 **Confidence & Independence** – Giving children simple jobs helps build self-esteem and encourages them to become confident, independent learners.

❤️ **Family Time** – Cooking together creates wonderful opportunities to chat, laugh and make special memories.

We'd love to see your creations! Please share a photo with us so we can celebrate everyone's colourful masterpieces.

Happy cooking! 🌈👩‍🍳
