🌳☀️ Spotlight ☀️🌳

This half term the children in Year 1 having been exploring lots of activities linked to learning about themselves. In Science, we have identified and named our face and body parts, and explored the role of a paramedic in helping people look after their bodies and had fun with activities linked to our five senses.
In History, we have found out about how we make our own history through celebrating and recording different special and compared our childhood now to childhood in the past.
In Art, we have
explored using different drawing materials and used mirrors and photos to draw our own self-portraits.
In Geography, the Naughty Bus toy has helped us to explore our
classroom and school grounds and use maps and compasses to explore routes and observe our environment in different directions. In Music we have been singing the Name Song and have used body percussion to help keep a pulse to different pieces of music. In PSHE we have explored ideas around Being Me in My World.

Happy Retirement, Mrs Gaughey! 🎉
We would like to wish Mrs Gaughey a very happy retirement from her role at Wolsingham School, where she has supported countless children through their transition from Year 6 to Year 7.
We have had the pleasure of working alongside Mrs Gaughey for many years, helping our pupils make the important move to secondary school with confidence and reassurance. Her kindness, dedication and commitment to young people have made a lasting difference to so many children and families.
Many of our school community will also remember that Mrs Gaughey's journey began here, where she worked as a Teaching Assistant before moving on to her successful career in secondary education.
Thank you, Mrs Gaughey, for all your support, care and friendship over the years. We wish you a long, healthy and happy retirement filled with new adventures and well-deserved relaxation.

Yesterday, we said a very special goodbye to someone who has made a huge impact on transition at Wolsingham School for more than 20 years.

Mrs Beverley Gaughey has supported and worked with more than 3,000 students during her time with us, making a lasting difference to so many young people and families. 💙

After more than two decades of dedication, care and commitment, Beverley has officially retired! 🎉

From everyone at Wolsingham School, we wish you a happy and healthy retirement. You will be greatly missed! 🌟

Calling all year 6 parents!

🌳☀️ Spotlight ☀️🌳

This week in Reception, we have been learning German as part of European Day of Language. We looked at where Germany is on a map and looked at different buildings and landmarks in Germany.
We learned how to say Good Morning (Guten Morgen), goodbye (auf Wiedersehen) and learned how to sing Head Shoulders Knees and Toes (Kopf, Schultern, Knie und Zehen).
We have been continuing our phonics programme and this week we have been learning i, n, m and d.
We have been using instruments, making necklaces, using magnets and playing with dice and dominoes.
As part of our learning, we eat different foods beginning with that letter so this week we tried noodles, mango chutney, doughnuts and different desserts.
