Today our children discovered the joy of our newly created Reflection Garden — a peaceful corner of the school designed for calm play, gentle conversation and outdoor lunches in the sunshine.

The space now features wild flowers, gentle sounds and reflective surfaces, adding to the sense of calm and giving children even more ways to pause, notice and unwind.

We are incredibly grateful to Mrs Kay and Mr Kay who spent their weekend choosing and planting the beautiful flowers that bring this space to life. Our Eco Warriors will now take on the responsibility of keeping the new plants watered and cared for, helping the garden flourish throughout the year.

⭐️ Our First Ever Careers Fair! ⭐️
This afternoon, we were delighted to host our very first Careers Fair for our Year 5 and Year 6 children—and what a fantastic experience it was!
We were truly overwhelmed by the incredible support from our local community. So many parents, employers and professionals generously gave up their time to inspire and engage our children and we are extremely grateful to each and every one of them.
Our children had the opportunity to meet and speak with a wide range of people, including nurses, fire fighters, chefs, engineers, gaming software developers, sports coaches, dance school owners and experts from local history and museums. We were also pleased to welcome representatives from New College Durham, Durham University and North East Aspirations Partnership, who shared valuable insights into future pathways and higher education.
The excitement, curiosity and thoughtful questions shown by the children made us incredibly proud. Experiences like this help broaden horizons, raise aspirations and spark ideas about the many opportunities that lie ahead.
A huge thank you again to everyone who helped make this event such a success—you have made a real difference to our children’s futures. 🌟

🌟 Show Racism the Red Card Visit 🌟
This week, our Year 4, 5 and 6 children took part in a powerful and important workshops led by Show Racism the Red Card.
The sessions helped us to understand the impact of racism and, most importantly, the power of their words. They explored how the effect of what we say is far more important than the intention behind it — a vital lesson in empathy and respect.
We are incredibly proud that our children chose to become Show Racism the Red Card Ambassadors. In this role, they have committed to actively challenging and calling out racism, helping to create a kinder, more inclusive school community — and beyond.
In addition, our school staff also received valuable training, further strengthening our whole-school commitment to inclusion, respect and actively standing against racism.
👏 Well done to all of our children for engaging so thoughtfully and maturely in such an important topic. Together, we continue to stand up, speak out, and show racism the red card. ❤️✋

A small group of children had a wonderful day out Hall Hill Farm recently, making special memories together 🌿🐄
The children loved meeting all the animals, getting up close to see them and even helping to feed them. There were lots of smiles and excitement as they explored the farm and learned more about the different animals.
One of the highlights of the day was the tractor ride 🚜, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed—it was full of laughter and a real sense of adventure!
Afterwards, the children spent time playing together, enjoying each other’s company and making the most of the outdoor space. It was a fantastic day filled with fun, friendship, and new experiences.
A big thank you to Hall Hill Farm for such a lovely visit—we can’t wait to come back! 😊

A big thank you to Glyn Oliver from Breedon Group plc for visiting us and speaking to our Year 5 pupils about how careers in mining have changed over the years. ⛏️
This was a fantastic opportunity for our children to deepen their understanding and make real-life connections with our recent learning on mining and the history of Crook. Glyn’s insights brought the topic to life and helped our pupils see how the industry has evolved over time.

🌟 Inspiring Our Future Innovators! 🤖💡
This week, a group of our Year 4 and 5 children and some of our friends from Brandon Primary Academy had an amazing opportunity to attend a STEM LEGO Robotics Workshop at Cummins in Darlington! 🚀
Throughout the day, the children got hands-on with building and coding their very own robots, developing their problem-solving skills and creativity along the way. From constructing SPIKE Prime robots to completing exciting coding challenges, they truly embraced the world of STEM!
They also learned about real-life careers in engineering and technology, helping to spark ideas about their future pathways. 👩‍💻👨‍🔧
We are so proud of their enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination – they represented the school brilliantly! 👏
A huge thank you to Cummins and Future Ready Foundation for hosting such an inspiring and engaging experience.

🛡️ Keeping Our Children Safe – Year 5 & 6 Workshops 🛡️
Today we welcomed Dave Burn from Be Safe into school to work with our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. Dave delivered engaging and informative workshops focused on Anti-Bullying, including cyber bullying, as well as staying safe on the streets.
The sessions encouraged thoughtful discussion and helped pupils develop a better understanding of how to keep themselves and others safe, both online and in the community. The children listened carefully, asked sensible questions and took away some really important messages.
These workshops play a vital role in supporting our pupils as they grow more independent, and we would like to thank Dave and Be Safe for taking the time to deliver such valuable learning in an age-appropriate and impactful way.
Well done to Year 5 and 6 for representing our school so positively today! 👏💙
